Bump anyone??

FYI, usually you can’t apply EA anywhere if you’re applying ED somewhere; it’s binding.

Lehigh (ED): high match
Notre Dame (EA): mid match
Harvard: high reach
MIT: high reach
Yale: high reach
Cornell: mid reach
Columbia: high reach
NYU: low reach
Duke: low reach
Northwestern: low reach
Brown: high reach
Boston University: mid match
Texas A&M: safety
Vanderbilt: high match / low reach

I can recommend some safeties, but it depends on which areas of the US you like.

Chance back?

“usually you can’t apply EA anywhere if you’re applying ED somewhere; it’s binding”

This is generally true for SCEA, but not EA. When you are accepted ED (and you accept the ED FA offer, if requested), you must withdraw all other applications, both EA and RD.

^Yes, I meant ED is binding, not EA. Also, that’s why I wrote “usually.”

But you can always apply EA if you’re applying ED (or is there a specific exception I don’t know?). If you apply SCEA you cannot apply EA or ED anywhere else.

I think if you apply SCEA, you can apply EA to a state school.

^ Ah, yes, I think this is another exception. :)

bump 10char…

I find it amusing that you’re EDing at Lehigh but if you don’t get in there, you’re planning to apply to all these top schools where your chances are far worse. You need to reconsider your college list, imo.

Also, all those schools are reaches for him- there is no such thing as a match school for internationals needing close to full rides. So, please, be aware of the international student situation before offering “chances” to international kids.

Yeah I am completely aware of that… Its hard for int’ls to get into a college with good aid but not impossible… There are many instances from our country which I guess you know too… It all depends on application essays at the end… We are not just gonna be thrown out because of FA…

Can you recommend me some safeties ??

Harvard-high reach
MIT-high reach
Yale-high reach
Cornell-reach
Columbia-low reach
NYU-low reach
Duke-match
Northwestern-low match
Brown-reach
Boston University-high match

Blind disregard to other posts much, JohnSmith101?

Besides, Duke is a reach for everybody…

Anyway,

At Lehigh, Notre Dame, Columbia, Cornell, NYU, Duke, Northwestern, Brown, Boston University, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt, yes, you can be “thrown out” just because of FA. They are all restricted when it comes to institutional funding and therefore cannot afford to admit international students who are not exceptional enough in a very competitive pool.

Considering your income level, you should apply to Berea College.
Include schools (especially LACs) from the Midwest and South since Financial Aid tends to be better there.
Do include Union, Lafayette, and Bucknell if you don’t get in ED at Lehigh. Lehigh takes expressed interest seriously so make sure to email admission officers but also professors in your intended major, asking intelligent questions. If you have VIP page, check it out regularly.
Not sure why Texas A&M is on your list - even with merit aid, you’d still have too much to pay.
Go to the Financial Aid Forum and look at the “guaranteed full tuition/full ride scholarships” and “competitive full tuition/full ride scholarships” threads on top.

Guys I need some engineering colleges with good financial aid for international students. Please help me!!

lafayette is quite good when it comes to engineering.

Consider lehigh…
