Services:
I’ve not counted the exact number of hours, but I think I have done more than 150 hours.

I’ve not decided my major yet, but I’m very interested in Mathematics and Economics.
Schools that I may apply to:
Reaches: Wellesley College, UChicago, Northwestern, MIT, Duke
Matches: Barnard, Smith, BMC, Emory, UCB, UCLA, USC
Safeties: Trinity College, Macalester College, NYU, UCSD

Please chance me for the above colleges. Thanks a lot=]

Bump…
Please help^^

ECs only count from 9-12 grade. Not starting from 7th.

Thanks for your reminder=)

i think you have great chances!

And if you have been participating in an extra curriculur since 7th grade, of course that shows dedication and “counts”.

Thanks=)
It’s great to know that I can include it in my application.
By the way, I’m worried about my choices of safeties…
Are they not ‘safe’ enough?
Any suggestions?

Do you need FA?

IMO training level-1: Are you on the actual IMO team?

Is HKMO Gold Award a big deal?

I do not need FA.

I was just attending the training but not on the team.

For the HKMO Open, it’s a local competition(HK and Macau students can join)
I’m not sure whether it’s a kind of major awards to US colleges

There aren’t too many math females and you do not need FA.
I think you have good chances at top colleges if you apply as a math major. (You could write about your passion for mathematics or/and your IMO training experiences.)
IMO is a REALLY BIG DEAL so IMO training only MIGHT make you look good.

Your SAT II scores, rank and UWGPA are excellent but try to raise your SAT score (or try ACT).

I think you should apply to more selective colleges including Yale, Princeton, Cal Tech and Cornell and more.

I don’t think Wellesley College is a reach school for you.

Good luck to you!

20more:

Thanks for your encouragement.
Most probably I will apply as a math major.
How much should I get in SAT to raise my chances?
Should I get a 2250+?

Wellesley College- Match/ You should get in

Northwestern,Duke, U Chicago- Not asking for aid puts you in a big advantage in the form that many stellar international applicants wanting aid are grouped as one pool and not wanting aid are treated differently. If you manage to show the strength in your applications you should get in to any of these

Barnard, Smith, BMC, Emory, UCB, UCLA, USC Trinity College, Macalester College, NYU, UCSD are all easy matches and some like UCSD and Trinity College you don’t need to worry about

Agreed with other posters…raise your SAT scores just by a 100 points write good essays and you are in

MIT is different though…money cannot buy an MIT education you have to earn it and trust me when I say this going to IMO camp makes small difference to MIT …if you can represent Hong Kong in IMO and win something then thats something otherwise your chances are pretty slim for MIT

However none of us here can promise anything so all the best :)

DarthSpawnus:

Thanks for your comment. I will think seriously of taking another shot to SAT.

Keep in mind that the match between you and a school is important too -like whether you are fit for a school or not whether you are enough interested or not

All the best :)

Any suggestions for schools that are good in Maths and Econ? If you can point out "reach, match or safe, that will be great.
Location is not a problem for me, many thanks.

Princeton is great for Math & Econ. And UPenn (Wharton) for Econ. UChicago too but you already have that on your list :)
