Chance an int'l for Rice please, RD and Baylor medicine program

<p>I will try to keep it short.</p>

<p>International student, asian (not china/india/korea), not applying aid.
School: Taking A-lvls. GPA is converted from my normal tests grades by school counsellor. 4.89 out of 5.00 weighted. Rank is top 2%
SAT & AP: CR 770 M 800 W 690; Math II 800 Chem 800 Phy 800; Cal BC 4 Chem 5 PhyB 5</p>

<p>ECs:</p>

<p>ICHO 2009, silver medal. Ranked about 60th in the world
China western math olympiad, bronze medal (same prestige as China Girls Math Olympiad) (top 8 math students of the country were selected to go)
Qualifier for national math team (equivalent of attending MOP in USA)(failed to make it it IMO though)
Some national science olympiad medals</p>

<p>Research of solid-state semiconductor in a national research institute</p>

<p>School band, bass section leader, gold in a national competition.
100 hrs of community service</p>

<p>Misc: essays are looking good. recs are looking even better (one of the teacher is my chem teacher, who coached me for the ICHO)</p>

<p>Plea: Pls chance for rice Rd as well as the Baylor medicine program.</p>

<p>^Thanks for the reply. My main concern is the Rice/Baylor medicine program. I’m not sure whether int’l student will be disadvantaged.</p>

<p>Pretty good chance for Rice. Not sure of Rice-Baylor thought. But even if you are not in the program, you can still apply for med school afterward. Lots of Rice students gain admission to med school anyway. </p>

<p>Oh yea, don’t show your community service experience by merely putting a number.</p>

<p>Xenobyll, you look fine. Definitely apply. Rice-Baylor isn’t an easy program to get into but it’s possible that being international MIGHT hurt you, but I’m not sure about that.</p>
