chance an oos junior?

i'm a junior from vermont and umd seems like a great fit for me, but because i'm oos, i'm not sure about my chances. here are my stats :)

3.7 gpa, 1900 sat

challenging course load, almost all accelerated/AP classes (ap lang and ush this year...stats, calc, lit, french and bio for senior year!)

i'm in about 6 clubs, but with significant dedication. i'm not spreading myself thin! some leadership i have is: freshman facilitator for a group called a world of difference, vice pres of the foreign language club, manager of the softball team, freshman "buddy", leadership training, etc. also involved in some volunteering outside of school.

i like to think i'm a good writer, so i hoping my essays will be impressive! i'll probably write about living overseas in ireland for four years. also, i'm a first-generation college student, so i guess that's a little advantage.

any advice would be great!

you’re pretty much on par with UMD’s admission standards and have a good chance of admission next year. Just make sure that you apply by the priority decision deadline, that’s actually really important. Also, you’ll be at an advantage if your SAT score is higher in the critical reading and math sections, since Maryland doesn’t consider the writing portion of the SAT.

I would have to agree with that. And plus since you are a junior, you can bring those stats up (still good enough but you will have more chance) and you can be a candidate for merit scholarships.
