GPA: 96.3unweighted (top 3% at public HS of 350+)</p>

<p>Math Team (4 years): local awards, ARML participant, Team Coach (elected)</p>

<p>Debate (3 years): local awards, state competitor, Treasurer (elected)</p>

<p>School Newspaper (4years): section editor</p>

<p>Charity Club: leader</p>

<p>Major: mechanical, bio, or electrical (compsci) engineering</p>

<p>Also, is there any chance that I will get financial aid (i.e merit scholarships) at GT?...I most likely don't qualify for need.</p>

<p>Oh and also, how hard are the classes at Georgia Tech? What is considered a good GPA by recruiting companies/grad schools and how hard is it to achieve this?</p>

<p>You will more than likely be admitted early and selected as a semi-finalist for the President’s Scholarship(provided you apply by Oct. 31). You will also be competitive for other tech scholarships.</p>

<p>A good GPA is subjective. For grad school you’ll want at least a 3.3, but most companies place more emphasis on experience(internships, co-ops, research, etc) than GPA. If you are just looking to get a job, anything around a 3.0 is more than sufficient for regular engineering jobs. Top consulting firms will want a higher GPA along with extracurricular involvement, etc…</p>

<p>Given your SAT score and grades you should be fine at tech, but you will have to work/if high school didn’t require any effort for you don’t expect tech to be the same. You definitely have the intellect to succeed-the rest is up to you.</p>
