What are my chances?

bumpppppppp

Bump10char

Your stats are good enough to where applying wouldn’t be a waste. Past that, I have no idea. Guessing your chances at getting admitted is impossible – nobody’s good enough to be a shoe-in, and random high schoolers and parents on CC can’t possibly know what admission officers will think about you after seeing your stats, reading your essays and recommendations, comparing you to thousands of other applicants, and deciding if you would be a good fit for their school. Plus, guessing at your chances of getting in has no bearing on whether or not you’re actually admitted.

Send in an application, and good luck!

Does your school offer a lot of AP classes? Noticed you took two, however not sure how that compares within your school.

You should tie in NYT article into something to make you stand out.

Finally, make sure you get application in for SCEA deadline.

Good luck!

Thanks for the insight. I am taking the hardest possible courseload and more (independent study for some). I’m applying RD.

Any other thoughts?

You obviously have not been paying attention to other chance threads. It’s impossible to predict anyone’s chances, as so much of the applications process is subjective and comes down to how an admissions director “feels” after reading your file.

Faced with more qualified applicants than they can accept, Harvard Admissions will look closely at your teacher recommendations for glimpses into your “character”. That’s an old fashioned word, it means the way you develop your inner qualities: intellectual passion, maturity, social conscience, concern for community, tolerance, inclusiveness and love of learning. Admissions Directors will scrutinize and compare your teacher recommendations to all other applicants. So, your chances really depend on the declarations of your teachers and guidance counselor. And that’s true for everyone! I have known URM’s to be accepted with your stats and others to be rejected. You need to just send your applications out into the universe and hope for the best. Good luck to you!

RP: Please listen to Gibby’s statement that no one can give you your chances. Your schizophrenic bumping of four simultaneous threads asking the same question when you’ve been repeated given the same answer is… well, annoying

and belies a possible insecurity that hopefully, you’ll be able to overcome when it’s actually time to apply.

You’re fine. You might get in to some, to all, or to none. And the sun will rise the next day. Plz try to relax.
