im entering the 4th MP of my junior year. Last year I messed up big time and ended with about a 2.8 GPA. This year the first marking period I had a 2.6 before kicking myself into shape last MP with about a 3.6. I'm sitting here right now with about a 3.0 for the year and a 2.95 overall. Hopefully i continue this upward trend and end next year at or about a 3.1 or 3.2 or maybe higher. I take Honors English and Im taking it again next year. My problem is 100% studying. I get so easily distracted i just can't get good study time in for myself. I just want to go to a good college so bad. I've wanted to go to USC my whole life but I've realized at this point that's out of the question most likely.

so here's my profile (projected):
White Male
NJ
3.2 GPA (1 honors course)
lets say pretty good SATS since i took it already in 7th grade and got like 1300 and i'm much smarter now. So lets say I get 680 700 690 or something

EC's:
4 years summer camp counselor
4 years HS rec basketball
TVP oscar nomination (school award program)
Job at bagel place 2 years
Mens volleyball club 3 years

chances for:
villanova
syracuse
U of Pitt
rutgers
seton hall
Arizona state
U of arizona
Uconn
Boston U
USC
ohio state
georgia tech

You probably won’t get into Georgia Tech with those numbers. The GPA is too low, no AP’s, and the projected SATs are just average for OOS (not to mention that they’re hypothetical).

i looked over my transcript and my SAT score from 7th grade was total 1550 out of the 2100. I am going to take prep classes in the summer/fall of this coming year and will be more than preparted once I take them.

well I live in a very wealthy area, bergen county of NJ. Not really sure how my parents are doing with these economic times but they’ve always told me wherever I get in they’d pay for me. I believe they’d put about 250,000 dollars in an account for my sister and I’s college education. Would I have a better chance of getting in if my parents could pay full freight?

One bit of advice: dont stress…itll do u no good
and also try to showcase your leadership and talents in as many ways psiible through various EC’s

honestly, man, to get into most of those schools you’re really going to need to get your gpa up. next year is going to be prime for you to show the colleges an upward trend in your grades. maybe take another honors course too, so that you could additionally show them your ongoing interest in school.

also, you should really get those sats up, because a 1300 is pretty ****ty, although you did say that was from seventh grade. try to reach a 2000, because a student with an upward grade trend and good sats is always a solid candidate.

lastly, work on your extra curriculars. maybe try to form a club or volunteer somewhere or something. i know it’s early, but when you apply, make sure you get some solid teacher recommendations, maybe ask the school for an interview, and definitely write a good essay. you’d really have nothing to worry about for most of those schools if you were to do everything i just suggested. best of luck, son.

thanks a lot man. yeah I’ve commited to myself to never allow me to get another C ever again. I am going to try to get a Job somewhere or maybe volunteer at my local library. I;m not very good at sports so thats kind of out of the picture for me.
