I got a 198 on the PSAT, which is a percentile of 96. So is there any chance of being qualified for a Commended Scholar?

Nope, usually the cutoff is above 200. Depends on the state though.

I’ve read a lot of posts on the PSAT Commended Scholar on the CC since I was worried about it too. From what I’ve gathered, all the past cut offs were 200s or above. No state had a cut off of less than 200.

For percentile, it is averaged around to be 97% and above but many states mandated at least 98%. I was disappointed with my score too. It’s ok when I compared to the rest of juniors who took it but after spending all that money on prep… it was just a time to take it with all my activities that went on during that month. :(

This year it might be 199. Although, more likely 200.

oh okay. thanks for all the replies!

Don’t worry about it… the real SAT is where it’s at.

Yeah. The only reason why I’m bummed is b/c of the scholarship money. But even then, only a certain percentage of even the finalist get money so I probably wouldn’t have stand a chance even with a 210+
