Hi I'm an illinoismstudent and I really really really want to do my pre med at uiuc, and I wanna go with molecular biology, so I would be applying to LAS?
Here's my stats
GPA: 3.79 weighted/ 3.53 unweighted
Act: 30
Have taken: honors English 1 and 2, ap euro, ap us history, ap psychology, honors world geography
Will take ( next year which is senior year): ap bio, ap macro/micro, ap gov.
E.c not too many, I played cri ket for a team outside of school and have decent community service.
School doesn't have class rank. Thank you so much!

you’ll get in.

Do I have like a really good shot at it??

I think you have a really good shot at getting in. Maybe try to get a leadership position this year to put on your app.

i wouldn’t say your a defitinite shoe in. Your GPA isn’t great and your really not involved in much. Your ACT is fine for pre med but GPA is a little on the low side. Idk it depends what your science and math grades are and that and how well written your essays are but i think GPA and not being involved can hurt.

Also keep in mind that biology majors have the lowest acceptance rates to get into med school…

aklauss17- where did you hear that statement? I’m just curious because I never heard of that one before.

If that is indeed true, I think it would only be like that because so many bio majors apply to med school. Because bio majors apply to med schools more than other majors, they would have the “lowest” acceptance rate. However, the “low” acceptance rate shouldn’t discourage anyone for majoring in biology for the obvious reason

also to India94, like what other people on this thread said, the thing that might not get you into biology would be your GPA because they are not very strong. I had a friend of mine who applied to UIUC for biology with slightly higher GPA and a 30 on the ACT and he didn’t get in during the priority admission period but got in when the regular decisions were released. I’d say you have like a 60-70% chance of getting in. good luck with the apps

I don’t remember exactly where I saw it but one college listed its acceptance rates by major and I also Google searched it and checked a few websites. The reason is because so many students that want to go to med school just assume that majoring in biology is their best bet because most if not all of the required courses to get into med school have to be taken to major in biology.

You can major in ANYTHING, yes ANYTHING, and apply to med school. You could major in art history, mathematics, or economics and still apply to med school. The only thing you need to do is complete the 8 or so classes required and take the MCAT. Look into it.
