Hello, all. Please help!! I need opinions.
Georgetown University is my first choice college and I will be applying Early Action for Fall 2016. I was wondering if some factors would push me toward acceptance, rather than being deferred to regular decision.
First of all, I am a First Generation student. My parents income lies between 50,000-80,000. My father is a coal miner. I know that most people say that being a first gen does not give anyone substantial leverage, however, I read in an article published online by Georgetown circa 2013 stated that most students who apply EA are wealthy and have more resources and are therefore “in the know” about applying early. Maybe since I’m applying as first gen, they’ll give my application more than a once over and toss??
For reference, I’m not just relying on one factor to get into GU. My SAT score is a 2160. I’m retaking the SAT in October just before the Nov. 1 application deadline, just to see if I can improve a bit. I am not going to stress over my score, though.
Give me your thoughts about the first generation push?? Thanks!!
