I come from a "poor" background I suppose and never thought I would attend a public college. But I live with my grandparents now, and they want me to go straight to a public college rather than a community. My grades aren't great but I took a lot of AP courses and all Honors (I guess my low grades in AP and stubbornness to drop out of the classes caused my low gpa);

GPA - (W) 3.02 (UW) 2.56 <-- ( This was HOPE UW, not sure if GSU, KSU uses same scale)

This means that you are eligible for any school except Research Universities, which are Georgia Tech, UGA, the Medical College of Georgia, and Georgia State. So basically, you are not eligible for admission to GSU.

KSU is a State University, so you meet the minimum FI for admission (1940). Your SAT scores are very good for KSU. Your GPA is a little low, but still within the interquartile range. I think you’re a Match for KSU.

I agree that you’d be a match for KSU. I have heard that you have to get your ap in early there because of the high volume since a lot of people use them as a financial back-up.

Yes. The requirement to transfer differs by school and major, but for GT, UGA, and GSU it is 30 hours minimum to transfer. All three schools consider just your KSU GPA and not your HS GPA or SAT score. Admission is based on classes take, KSU GPA, and the availability of the program you want to transfer into.

30 hours is usually 2 semesters of college (so 10 months). Here’s how it would work:

Fall 2010: KSU
Spring 2011: KSU
Summer 2011: KSU or internship / apply to other colleges
Fall 2011: KSU / accepted to other schools
Spring 2012: Attend new school.

So you would actually be at KSU for about a year and a half.
