I have a 3.82 W GPA. Top 10 % of my senior class. 1650 on the SAT's. Took 8+ AP classes and almost everything else was Honors or College level classes. Also, for the mid- year report i had all A's while taking 8 classes in my senior year. Essay was great, got help from school teachers as well. Had 3 recs, they were all good. One was from Anatomy teacher, another from my AP Chem teacher and one from my wrestling coach. As for extra curicullars, i have a lot down and hold leadership positions in most of them. Please chance me! UW- Madison is my dream school! I have been accepted to Purdue, Ohio State, Rutgers, VA Tech, and Penn state UP

cmon people… BUMP

UWI - match

I am new at this. Can you tell me what match is? Thanks

UWI: Match (maybe you can attend UWI as a transfer)

Safety
High Safety
Low match
High
High match
Low Reach
Reach

You can’t put percentages but you get the flow.

Safeties are sure things. Matches are school you should be targeting with your stats. Reaches are, well reaches.

UWI - High match (Low SAT)

It looks good - but I know that some kids that looked like UW would be a ‘safety’ school for them were wait listed or denied with later applications (after December). Good luck!

what is a high match? sorry i am new at this. I really want to go here and i’m just scared my SAT’s are holding me back.

Whats your unweighted GPA ? Your SAT are too low for University of Wisconsin…hate to say this but around 5 percent chance for Madison…I mean the 25th percentile at Madison is 1740. I think its a low reach not a high match.
You got accepted to 5 other universities anyway so I would attend the cheapest one from the list.

Yea that is my weighted GPA. However, i took many AP classes and honors classes and extra curicullars are superb. Also, UW- madison makes us submit senior yearMid year grades and my mid years grades were all A’s. I took 8 classes with 4 being AP classes.

UWI: High match

@ catria. you previously said match. why is it a high match now? and i honestly still don’t get the concept of the high match and low match and all that. I would really appreciate it if you explain

BUMP!!! lol

Made a poor assessment of how a 1740 on the SAT stacked up against other UWI applicants…

Match: ~40-60% chance to get in
High match: ~20-40%

You MUST get that SAT up, ASAP.

Getting into several other schools in the same selectivity range does intrinsically make it more likely you will get into UWI, since it may indicate that you are good at writing apps.

I thus stand by my initial assessment of match.

Yea I was wondering about the same thing. I was admitted to Purdue’s Biomed engineering program which is very selective, Penn State UP’s campus, the school of SEBS at RU, and Ohio States Bio/pre med program. However, recently I have been discouraged about being admitted to UW-Madison and has led to a whole bunch of stress.

Heyy guys i just got into UW-Madison! YEA BOY!
