Chance at Vassar?

I am currently a US citizen studying at a Canadian high school.

Personal info:
I am an asian/ white applicant attending private school funded by my legal guardians. On FAFSA i am considered an independent applicant. My biological mother is deceased and i have no contact with my biological father.

Potential Major:
Political Science (prelaw)/ Finance

Stats:
ACT: 30
UW GPA: 3.55 (junior year i had to deal with many personal issues)
AP/honours classes: my school does “honours” classes as Canada does not generally offer those. I take all university prep classes. As well I could’nt afford to take AP classes as my school charges an extra $2000 to take them. And so my weighted GPA may be difficult to determine.
Awards: honour roll all years, world issues, geography, civics, world history, english,

EC’s:

  • founded a club to raise money for cleft lip (operation smile), raised over $3000

  • camp leader

Misc: fluent in cantonese, mandarin, french and english

If you are fluent in these four languages & dialects, I encourage you to pursue a business related degree in finance & accounting or finance & management. Make sure that your proficiency or fluency is in both speaking & in reading & writing so that you will be a very valuable addition to any enterprise.

oh my language fluency is a little all over the place. I speak cantonese and mandarin at home, english and french in school, i can read in english, french and spanish and I am conversationally “fluent” in russian and thai.

Reading Chinese is a very valuable skill for business & government work.

Russian is valuable for government work, but less so for business as almost all educated Russians are proficient or fluent in written & verbal English.

oh i see but i dont know if Vassar will care if I speak these languages

I definitely recommend that you emphasize and maybe even write an essay (if you have enough passion for it and some fun anecdotes) about rugby. It’s a pretty big sport at Vassar especially since it’s the closest thing to football there. The women’s team has done really well nationally in recent years!!
