ECs

debate awards at ivy schools hosted competitions, president of our debate club

research awards in regional area for political science and microbiology / candidate for intel/ISEF. i have a very conclusive poli-sci project..sent in abstract to all my schools

tons of music distinctions that i dont feel like listing (all state positions on a rare instrument)...its a very good list and i'm being modest =P.

interned for a judge

did some community service here n there using music and playing in rock bands n stuff.

i have a lot of other ECs but i really don't want to list all of them, just trying to get a general feel of where you think i stand on this whole process

i play in weekly musical ensembles and have clubs every day of the week xcept friday (<3 friday). most of my clubs are musical things xcept for one, which is a debate team.

just chance for ivy leagues xcept cornell and upenn.
it would be cool if you can chance me for George Washington U. also.

Borderline reject at Harvard at this point.

Note: the following comments are based relative to other Harvard applicants--not relative to general students.

Your grades are not so great if you've already taken 5 year-long AP courses. In theory, you could be at the 4.2 to 4.3 GPA level by now. Also 2270 is low for Harvard (check the Stats profile if you don't believe me). Getting a 1590 is great, though (why so relatively poor on the Writing section?)

Your ECs are great, though. If you get that Intel/Siemens finalist award, then your odds go way up.

Lastly, it should be noted that the Ivies go by rank, not by GPA--and you did not give us your rank (for example, say 3rd out of a class of 350).

Right now:

Harvard/Yale/Princeton/Stanford--rejections
Columbia/Dartmouth--borderline acceptances/possible rejections (more likely to be accepted--barely)
Brown--likely acceptance
George Washington--definite acceptance

Good luck.

P.S. Keep in mind I'm making comments relative to other Harvard applicants. If you want to compare to the average student, then you are WAY above average as indicated by my rating you as an acceptance at everyplace except HYPS.

i think you'll probably get in to dartmouth and maybe columbia for the ivies. calcruzer's assessment is quite fair, i believe. chances for HYP acceptances will be increased based on your region and race. you are a great candidate but i still think you might need a push like this to be a sure bet. but best of luck, t here really is no telling with these schools! they're looking for very specific components in their class and it could very well be you they want!
