Interned at a law firm for 2 trimesters (possibility of interning at another firm in the fall)
-worked mostly on med. mal cases, tested the waters with corporate and environmental
-got a better understanding of the community, and how the firm, along with other organizations/pro-bono lawyers fit into the picture.
-outside experiences: YWCA and LAC
-While interning at the firm, I was offered to other internships (1) being the second firm (2) LAC--Legal Assistance Center w/ Heartside Ministries.
Volunteered:
-over 200 hours
-not included in 100 hours, but campaigned for many political candidates over the years (not limited to Obama)
-recently volunteering daily at ACSET (Area Community Service Employment and Training Council)/ Community Action Center--non-profit/government agency, where I've been helping those who aren't able to help themselves. In other words, rebuilding the community starting with the foundation. Volunteering at ACSET has helped me realize (1) the need to bridge the age gap between the elderly and the young. (We can't lose the cultural impact of the past) (2) this is where community organizing starts
-While volunteering at ACSET, I've been trying to get them (non-profit/government agency) to adopt a recycling and composting program, which is still in the works. I've noticed that a great number of the senior citizens who go to ACSET for their daily nutritious meals, don't fnish the majority of their meals. Instead, they throw it away. Why not compost the leftovers, and save the non-profit hundreds of dollars per year, which could go towards better staffing, programming, and resourcing at the agency. This way, they can better help the community. In addition, ACSET could set an example to the greater community of Grand Rapids, which certainly is not limited to the amount of impact that this more enviromentally friendly and more sustainable program could have on other government agencies/buildings in Grand Rapids. (You can tie this in with Michigan's economy, the national economy, and Obama's "green" agenda. --Govenor Granholm has promised Michigan state residents more than 5,000 green jobs. My involvement with City High's Environmental Club is method to educate the community, starting with ACSET, on how to become more environmentally friendly, and leading a more sustainable lifestyle. This way, Americans will want to "go green," and in doing so, will demand more "green" products, shooting up the demand for said products ,and thus, creating more "green" jobs, as promised by our Govenor.)

Chance me. Please?
I know my test scores aren't up to par, but I'm studying my butt off over the summer to retake both the ACT, SAT, and more SAT II's in the fall.
