-GPA w/uw: 4.7/3.6 (due to crappy freshman year, am expecting to be a 3.8 or 3.9 by end of year)
-i have only one "c" semester average for my freshman year in biology. i've beem making all a's this year but i'm concerned this will screw me over anyway.

SATs: 720v/600m/700w
taking a practice course to boost math score

ECs:

-Stressing the paper as #1 interest, have been on it for three years and editor for two years. Was accepted to well-known (in FL) Poynter Institute for journalism study over the summer, possible college credit

-GSA for four years, will have been on board for three. Did a lot of volunteer work with them.

-Youth in Government two years, will be on board next year

-Latin Club for four years, attended Regional forum and will be attending National Forum. Running for board for next year

-NHS for a year. unfortunately only honors society I'm in, but will be qualified for Beta for next year

-Co-founder of my school's book club

-Was in Orchestra freshman year and Jazz Ensemble sophmore year as bassist. Attended UNCG Summer Music camp for what will be five years. Possibly participating in youth orchestra next year. This year I was a music tutor at my old middle school which is how I got most of my service hours other than GSA

My credentials will be way stronger next year (scores, GPA, ECs, etc.) and I'm not concerned about essays because I'm confident in my abilities as a writer and I've already been communicating with the admissions offices at my top choices. But as things are going now, will I have a fighting chance at said top choices (Davidson and W&M) when the time to apply rolls around?

Thanks.

Ah, I'm in the same boat with the math SAT...sometimes I do well, other times I don't. Hopefully when you retest, you'll up your total score about 150+. It will definitely make you more competitive.

I actually think you stand a decent chance at William and Mary, depending on your math score, but I would say perhaps sixty - seventy percent chance of acceptance. I doubt you'll be outright denied. EA and ED are helpful factors as well. Davidson will be a bigger reach, but within bounds. I'm unsure how far the alumni relation will get you. Applying ED, if it is your first choice, will help a lot.

Claremont is a reach, up there with Davidson...Duke is a high reach above all the others.

Anyway, you have a great list of schools, so I'm sure you'll get into a few that you are really excited about. Apply to Davidson and W&M because you definitely have a fighting chance. Best of luck! :)

buuuuuuuuuump

Well if you have done a lot of work with GSA (and are possibly gay?) I think you should stress that for southern schools like Davidson.. It would probably help you a lot.
