Hi. I would really appreciate any thoughts on whether I can get in to Swarthmore, or how I compare to their applicant pool:

Class Rank: 27 out of 930 (top 4%)
Unweighted GPA: 3.756

-Currently the News Editor of my high school's student newspaper; 11th- Editorialist
-(9-10 Debate) 10th-Recording Sec. of Debate; 11th- I made it to the elimination rounds of the Barkley Forum tournament of Emory university (for debate, by far considered to be the most prestigious competition in the country, outside of NFL and CFL Nationals)

I attend a suburban public school in Miami-Dade county, Florida, that is populated by over 3,800 students in total. I visited the campus, and I have had an interview with an alumnus.
Thanks!!

I'm a senior at Swat and can tell you that, as far as your basic numbers are concerned, you're certainly in range. Beyond that it's always hard to say. You'll probably get a mix of opinions on here, but if you want to go to Swarthmore I don't think there's any reason for you to feel discouraged by your profile. Just give it a go.

I'm pretty much with Gilead. There's not enough information to make a very precise estimate. For example, we don't know your ethnicity, whether you are applying early decision, etc.

I don't see anything that would keep you out of the mix (obviously you'd probably like higher Math scores, but most people have something they'd like to have a little higher).

Your class rank is strong. Swarthmore tilts a bit towards public high schools in admissions. Your debate stuff looks like your strong suit from an EC standpoint. Give it a shot.

I am white, and I did decide to apply for early decision to Swarthmore and Early action (non-binding) to UChicago, but I was worried about whether I had wasted a great deal of time on a school that might well be out of my reach.
