Chance for American University

What chance do I have of getting into American University? I want to major in International Relations. My GPA is on the low side, 83.9 out of 100 (I missed a lot of school due to sickness but my attendance is better this year), and I have an SAT score of 1890 (630 on each section). I have decent letters of recommendation and a good essay.

ECs
-guitar
-flute
-features editor of school newspaper
-member of science club
-member of media club
-helped with local election (consulted and campaigned)

Bump… anyone? I forgot to mention my GPA is unweighted.

You definitely have a shot at the school but your scores aren’t going to be the issue, I would say to focus on your EC’s and achieving leadership positions in them. If anything, try to improve your scores a little if you are worried about academics.
Good luck!
Chance me back please?

I’d say it’s a high match/low reach
American has gotten increasingly harder to get into (because of the rising popularity of the school)
And it’s going to be harder to get into the International Relations major since it’s so popular.
Make sure you show them that you are interested in the school, they love that.

Are you applying EA or regular decision?

Right now I’m planning on applying regular decision. Do you think I should apply ED? They don’t have EA, at least not that I can see.

American: High match

do ED, for sure
