chance for berkeley, la, sd, davis

<p>hello!
i posted before but here are my stats and i really want to go to berkeley. </p>

<p>i am indian female who goes to like the 5th ranked public school in california. We dont get to take APs before 11th grade. </p>

<p>GPA: 3.95 uw and 4.4 w</p>

<p>junior year:
AP Chem (5) A A
US History B+ A
Honors Precalc A A
Spanish 3 A A
AP Stats (4) A B+
Honors English A A </p>

<p>Senior Year
AP Calculus
AP Music Theory
Physics
Government/ Economics
AP English
Biotech ROP</p>

<p>Self studying AP Biology this year</p>

<p>SATs: 2070 ( 650 V 740 M 680 W)
SAT2s: 800 math 2c 800 chem</p>

<p>ok on my app i wrote as follows</p>

<p>ECs
1. piano- nat'l piano guild each year, 13 years, grades 9-12
2. south indian classical music- competitions, 13 years, 9-12
3. south indian classical dance- gave solo performance, 9-12
4. intern at doctors office, 11th summer
5. IAY local chapter Vice president, 11-12</p>

<p>Volunteering
1. library volunteer, grades 9-12, program assistant, 2 hrs a week
2. started tutoring center at library, 9-12 (founder)
3. play piano for seniors, 9-12
4. volunteer at hers breast cancer fund, 11-12
5. breast cancer awareness- volunteered in india with hospitals and doctors to help plan ideas for future nonprofit</p>

<p>Jobs
1. teach piano, 9-12, 4 hrs a week (independent)
2. teach tennis (independent), 11-12
3. wetland intern (for one weekend)
4. office assistant (during summer of 11th)
5. research assistant during 10th summer in india</p>

<p>im applying as a chem/biochem major

<p>you are ok. berkely may be close, but being instate makes you have a high chance. good luck</p>

<p>also, just my opinion - dont put "teaching piano" and "teaching tennis" as jobs. i would say they are more of hobbies. i know that the counselor for uchicago told me that a job should have a boss and a time card (his words on the phone!). just a suggestion. it seems kinda cheezy</p>

<p>oh well i mean like i teach it independently for pay and i put it down because of that.</p>

<p>yes. i understand what you mean, but still
you dont do it for 20 hours a week or anything. i guess it depends on the school, but i know u of chicago did not want stuff like that under job experience.just a fair warning</p>

<p>i put tutoring a kid as my job and i still got in.
shrugs..</p>

<p>other people have told me my SATs are too low. will it help that out of 200 people who applied last year from my school to berkeley 70 people got in?</p>
