You should try out UIUC since you’re instate for that

Ur ACT scores are too low for the other ones.

I agree that you should look at UIUC. The College of Business at UIUC can provide an amazing experience.

As an in-state student it will probably be less expensive than the other schools on your list, except perhaps for OSU. I have two children who are currently in business at U of I. There are no regrets. Actually, they would both say they are extremely happy with their experience so far.

Pros to consider:

– if you are a top student there is some merit aid…not a lot, but my older child will probably receive a total of about $20k in merit scholarships from just filling out the university scholarship application. Your list includes a lot of very expensive schools. I’m sure you realize it, but you should run the Net Price Calculator and talk with your parents about what they are willing to pay.
– admittance into your chosen college within the university as an incoming freshman. The caveat is that if you are not admitted into Business, the path to transfer in at the end of freshman year is challenging.
– the acceptance of AP credits is generous, without resulting in a higher cost of attendance. If you are considering a CPA it can cut a year (or more) off the needed 150 credit hours.
– the size of the College of Business. My children would say that it is very comfortable…actually similar to the Chicago suburban high school they attended.
– Business Career Services (BCS) is amazing. Do a search.
– study abroad opportunities through the university are abundant…I would even say, stellar.
– Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). This is an area that was under-estimated in our college search process.
Check them out…especially the ones that are business oriented.

I have to run now, but if you have questions, feel free to ask. Just remember that UIUC is competitive for business. Good luck!

@88jm19 Thank you! I will look into it. Would you say that I would be accepted if I were to apply?

You’re welcome. I think you have a good chance for two reasons. First you have solid stats…GPA, ECs and rigor. The second thing in your favor is if you’re from the Freeport area …I’m guessing because of the tennis, you mentioned. I would think being instate and not from the immediate Chicago area would play in your favor…though I am not in admissions…just a parent. I recommend you visit the school, shadow a business student and see how you like it. FYI- school is almost over, so you may want to schedule something in the Fall. Oh, and the Club tennis is pretty good, so check out the tennis facility while you are on campus. They have different levels and flexible time commitments.

You get automatic admission into the Kelley School of business at IU.
