Chance for Cornell ALS? - Transfer Student

<p>I applied to Cornell as a transfer student for the Fall 2012 semester. I'm anxious to know whether or not I really have a chance of getting in. </p>

Cumulative GPA: 3.8
Credits: 68
Courses: Calculus I, Calculus II, Business Law I, General Chem I, General Psychology, Intro to Literature, Intro to Business, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Statistics I, Chinese I, Contemporary Global Issues, World History, International Development and Change</p>

<p>High School: GPA ~93
AP: Only took AP English, but scored 4 on exam, so it won't transfer to Brown</p>

<p>*Extra Curriculars: Music (percussionist): Principal Percussionist for Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra, NYSSMA All State '08 and '09, Accepted into All Eastern Music Festival, Percussion Ensemble, Winter Drumline, Field Band, Pit Ensemble, DCA Syracuse Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corp '08, etc...
Other EC's: Social Justice Club, Business Club, Debate Club</p>

<p>Std. Tests: ACT Composite (w/ writing): 30</p>

<p>I also studied abroad this year in Southern Mexico. This was heavily incorporated into my application essays, because I want to become a Portfolio Manager, and specialize in Socially Conscious Investing. My time in Mexico was spent studying the effects of NAFTA and the globalization of capitalism, especially on the indigenous population.</p>

<p>My accounting professor and sociology professor (who is also a professor at Cornell) wrote my letters. Both were outstanding.</p>

<p>Whoops! Forgot to include that I applied to the School of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Applied Economics and Management, with a focus in Accounting.</p>

<p>AEM is really hard to get in as a transfer, but you have a good GPA, so I’d say you have a decent shot.</p>

<p>I heard it was easier than CAS. Originally, I was going to apply as an Economics major to CAS, but heard I would have a better chance at AEM.</p>

<p>A&S transfer is probably harder, but I was just trying to say that AEM is a quite difficult program to get into within CALS. CALS as a whole is much easier to transfer into than A&S because A&S has so many distribution requirements…</p>
