Chance for EDII?

I'm honestly not sure whether I should apply EDII or Regular. The fact that EDII is binding isn't a problem, but I want to do whatever will give me the best chance of acceptance. I never considered Colgate until recently. I drove by the campus and WOW! I was blown away by the beauty of the campus, and of course the academics aren't too shabby either haha. Anywayy if anyone could chance me I'd be very appreciative!

GPA: 95.377

SAT: 1960 M:630 CR:670 W:660 [[hopefully I will get in with standby testing next weekend and raise my score]]

Rank: 3/73 --possibly 2/73

Classes: Seven college level classes through or at a nearby community college...mostly honors classes..I'm also in a rigorous medical program for half of every school day

ECS: 10 seasons of varsity cheerleading, leadership positions in the music club, yearbook club, and student council. I'm also first chair oboe and i've done all county and some other band-related things

Recs: should be excellent

Essays: excellent. they've been edited by a teacher who used to work in admissions at a competitive college

Thank you so much!

Anyone? :)

My totally unexpert opinion is that you’ve got a decent shot, but are not a sure thing. The main thing that will make Colgate a bit of a stretch for you vs. a match is your SAT score, especially in math. First, let’s be clear, your score is a good score. Your grades are really good too. The problem is that Colgate is a very selective school and will get a lot of applications like yours, especially from other kids in the Northeast, and those kids will have strong extracurriculars like yours. If you look at the stats for ED, especially for Colgate, they seem to strongly point to a better chance for admission vs. RD, so I would think you would really want to go ED if you can deal with the constraints of the ED system. Might also give the SAT another shot. Good luck.

If Colgate is absolutely where you want to go, then apply EDII.

Why not apply early? Do you have anything to lose, really? You say you want to go there, and yes it has a gorgeous campus (it’s the college in your dreams of what a college would look like), and early decision applicants have a somewhat higher acceptance rate (being better students, typically). Go ahead and apply. Even if you’re not admitted, aren’t you still going to be in the regular applicant pool? Good luck.
