Chance for George Washington and Georgetown-Will Chance Back!

Not too sure of getting accepted. Actually, looking at the posts by all the seemingly qualified students who got deferred, my hopes aren't too high.

Bear with me:

Middle Eastern
Lower middle class
IB Diploma Candidate (all IB classes).
GPA: 3.6 UW, 3.9 W as of last year. I'm a senior now, and I had a lot of trouble with a teacher more so than the actual class. More likely than not, my GPA is probably lower--I got a C in my IB Math class. It's the only C in my entire high school career. However, having worked something out with my teacher, I plan on bringing my grade up by the end of the semester.
ACT: 23 (waayyyy too low, I know, but I can't take it again in time and I'm a terrible test taker...obviously :/)
Community Service: 150+ hours
Group Coordinator/President of Amnesty International and I established the club in my school.
NHS
National English Honor Society Adviser
National Spanish Honor Society
Honor Roll
Received Numerous Outstanding Student Awards
Nominated for the National Council of Teachers of English nationwide writing competition
Speech and Debate
Student Advisory Committee-Senior Class (one of 20 out of about 700)
IB Advisory Committee
SAT II: none
Karate: 10 years, regional champion, captain, 2nd degree black belt
Good essays

Any advice as to how I could raise my chances?
Thanks so much!

I think you have a shot. Probably a better shot at GW than Georgetown since Georgetown recommends SAT IIs. If you can write a stellar essay, emphasize your involvement in ECs, I think GWU could be possible. Not too sure about Georgetown though that’s really iffy :/

Best of luck though!

Answer mine? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1260515-chance-senior-georgetown.html

Is middle eastern an URM?
Also, are you a senior? If you are, there isn’t a whole lot you can do but I would recommend that you work on your essays and put forward something reflective, genuine, and insightful. As is, your chances for Gtown are low, but not nonexistent. I know next to nothing about GW so I will not dilute valid opinions with my own drivel :).

I think you’ve got a pretty good shot at GWU, but a better ACT score would definitely help your chances. I think Gtown is a reach, though still possible
good luck :)
