Chance for me at SJSU (local applicant)<--Santa Clara county

Hi really interested in attending SJSU, I live in Santa Clara, and will graduate from a Santa Clara County highschool(Santa Clara is within a 10 minute drive to SJSU.

Intended Major: Software Engineering or Mangement information Systems or Biomedical Engineering, with a minor in CS

CSU GPA: 3.3

CSU GPA with local boost(becuase I graduated from SC county): 3.5

Extra curriculars: VP of programming Club, Secretary + Founding Member of Model UN, Member of DECA, internship at a startup
Honors/AP courses: AP computer science principles (3 on AP exam), AP computer Science A(3 on AP exam), AP Seminar-Buisness(4 on AP exam), AP GOV/ECON(senior year), AP Physics(senior year), AP Statistics(senior year), AP Calc AB(senior year) + Human Physiology Honors

*Only took 2 years of language

SAT(highest): 1340

Impactation index score(normal): 3980
Impactation index score(normal) + local gpa boost: 4140

Impactation index score(engineering): 3950
Impactation index score(engineering)+ local gpa boost: 4110

MY questions:

  1. Do I send SJSU my boosted local gpa when I apply?
  2. What chanced do I have for getting into the college in general?
  3. What chances do I have for getting into MIS, Software engineering, or Biomedical Engineering?
  4. How does applying for a minor work? What are the requirements? I want to do one in CS !

PLZ HELP

Keep in mind I am a local applicant

SE had an EI threshold of 4200 last year so worth applying for that major but no way a guarantee even if you are local. Biomedical Engineering had an EI threshold of 4000 last year so another good option instead of SE. I would put MIS as an alternate major which had an EI threshold of 3250 last year.

SE is not a guarantee but the other two majors with your EI puts you above the EI Thresholds from last year. The EI thresholds due fluctuate from year to year so you never know until you apply. Pick your favorite 2 majors and best of luck.

Thanks,

  • Do I apply with my boosted gpa when I apply?
  • and how easy is it to change majors, or declare a minor?

You input your grades listed on your transcript. If you get the local GPA bump, that will be determined by SJSU.

Changing majors will depend upon which major you are planning to switch into. The more competitive the major, the more difficult to change.
