I think my essays were pretty unique and well written but who knows

I know this is a lot, and really annoying but I have never wanted anything so badly. Please, anyone who might have a good idea let me know what you think

I think you have a great chance of being admitted.

Your SAT scores are there and your GPA is there (you might want to give them the weighted one as well).

How many APs have you taken? If you have taken 5+, you’re definitely getting in…without a doubt. Your stats may even qualify you for honor’s (if you applied before the deadline, that is).

I have only taken three AP classes (the ones I am taking this year) I was supposed to be taking four but due to the competitive nature of my school and the rigor of the coursework, several years ago a three AP per year limit was placed on students. I did however the the AP exam for a class I never took last year and got a 4. My school does not weight GPA. I have taken several honors classes but it refuses to boost our grades. In their minds, we get what we get in the classes we choose to take, so I cant send a weighted score. Thank you for your input!

Well as long as you specified which classes were honors and APs, (your transcript should have stated this) you should be fine. I was told that they expect students from my school to have taken at least 3 APs and my school offers a lot. I’m guessing our schools are on the same level of rigor (we’re ranked either 3rd of 4th in the state and we also have a cap of 3 APs per year).

I think they’ll see that you decided to take APs during your senior year and not your freshman-junior years, but I’d still say you have a great chance of getting in!

You’ve also had a job and you’ve had several leadership activities!

Honestly, people with lower stats have made it in, so I’m sure you can too! Your stats aren’t even low!

Your chances are good, well above 50 percent, maybe as high as 90. UGA will add .5 to your AP grades if your school hasn’t already. I suspect this will bring you to the school’s admitted average gpa of 3.82. Your SAT is solid, but within the midrange of this year’s entering class. UGA gives a (slight) advantage to in-state students, but then again, the state’s going broke, so maybe they need the oos tuition money, eh?

“I was told that they expect students from my school to have taken at least 3 APs and my school offers a lot. I’m guessing our schools are on the same level of rigor (we’re ranked either 3rd of 4th in the state and we also have a cap of 3 APs per year).”

@coolpg: how did you find out how many APs UGA expected students from your school to take? My school also offers a lot, and I would like to know how many APs they would expect applicants from my school to take.

An admissions counselors told us during an orientation session that the typical number of AP courses for successful applicants ranges from 3 to 7.

eastcoast92: Just so the group can be clear, your 3.7 GPA means that you are mainly an A student, correct? As for the number of AP courses expected, I am guessing that UGA is giving a rough range, but they are not looking so much at the number as they are the courses, the broader range of advanced classes, and how you are doing in them. And there is no “slight advantage” to in-state students, that is just a rumor.

Yea, dont worry. You will be accepted. There was people with your SAT scores who were rejected in EA because their GPA was on the low 3.0 range. But, in regular decision they consider more things than just your scores.
