Just wanted to point out that Princeton High School sends about 5-9 kids to Princeton. Living in NJ isn't a disadvantage because of location but because of the number of applicants with good stats looking to get into Ivies.

Also for some smaller schools, I hear that Princeton has quotas. I know that from my school out of the 10 that apply each year only 1 or 2 get in. And a lot of the time it's the kids with legacies.

Your SAT's are pretty mediocre too for an asian male trying for HYPS

Someone apparently doesn't know what SAT score means.

2310 is likely at or above the 75th percentile for Princeton, remember - hordes of people with 1800 SATs and 600's on each section get into Princeton everyyear (About 30% of the class), so your SAT score pretty much pwns all those noobs.

Thanks to everyone so far!

So yea...I realize 2310 is decent, but far from stellar (I think 2310 is slightly in the low end of the range for non-athletes who get accepted to HYPS). But will the rest of my app (like the 5's I got on all my AP's) be able to compensate in terms of standardized testing?

Your testing is your strongest aspect basically. It's not weak at all, despite what other people who dont have an inkling of what an SAT score means say.

You grades and scores are awesome.. But the EC's lack slightly... Math is such a typical EC for a asian... And how does XC take up so much of your time?.. Isn't it just a fall sport?.. I really don't know... Probably a decent chance though.

"hordes of people with 1800 SATs and 600's on each section get into Princeton everyyear (About 30% of the class)"
I Agree. That is very difficult to believe. Where'd you get that statistic?

The OP's scores are not weak, but by no means strong enough to give him the edge he needs to get into Princeton. Additionally, his ECs are probably weaker than most applicant's, so he will need a really good essay to get in.

actually for princeton mid range is 1370-1590, so only 25% of students have less than 1370 SAT. i highly doubt there are too many that have 1200's (if any at all)

Well, while I was perhaps exageratting about the "Hordes", a decent amount of people with very low SAT's are invited to Princeton everyyear, and thats just counting SATs that were as a WHOLE bad, not counting that perhaps one 2200 scorer scored a 600 on one section while 800 on the other 2. Here are the admission rates for people w/ low SATs:

1900-2090: 6.5%
1700-1890: 2.8%
1500-1690: 0.5% (Low, but I wonder who got admitted with that? Bleh, prob a VIP admit)

and collegeboard.com shows the individual 25th-75th percentiles, which I now noticed I based my original statement on old data - this year Princeton's 25th percentile scores seem to have each risen about 30-50 points, because I remember last year being shocked that the 25th percentile for CR was only 660! (Now its 690)

Bump...
Thanks everyone! Anyone else care to add? - Oh yeah, I also do outdoor track in the spring in addition to cross country in the fall - are my EC's really going to hurt me a lot in admissions?
