I know my ECs are weak, but couldn't help b/c learning English and focusing more on academics.. (also emphasized in essays, recs, etc)

-Essays: above average
-Teacher Recs: very good

Editor in Chief of school paper but you can't bring up your writing score because English is your second language?

cmon now

the editor position was at my previous school in asia before I came to the US :) I contacted admissions officers and they told me that they would view all activities from my previous school, so I just put one in..

Ohhhh, i see lol

Essays: above average
Recs: very good

This isn't going to help you. I'd say to get into the schools with 10% admit rates, you need essays: remarkable, Recs: outstanding. But you never know. Good luck!

Thanks for your advice :) what about my other stats and circumstances? Will these be sufficient for the schools that I am applying to?

I'd tell them you are majoring in math/science to improve yr odds.

Aren't math and science popular at those schools? I thought the trick was to apply to a field in which nobody is going to do.

I think you have a GREAT shot at ALL of your schools. The schools are looking for a diverse student body, not just ethnically, but in all areas. I mean for you to learn English in such a short time at an older age, and still score very high on your SAT's is probably something that will stand out to them. Your class rank also indicates your naturally ability to adjust to any setting. You seem like a hardworker, good luck with your future endeavors and I hope you get into your top school!

2.5 years in US and you have all these scores? how do you do it?

wow.. most people here have such good stats I'm soo worried.. anyone evaluate my chances? Bump! Thanks..

bump....? :(

Varsity science team......lol, sorry. But you do have outstanding qualifications. Your GPA seems low until you look at class rank, so adcoms won't let that hurt you. Your EC's seem a little dry in creative terms, no art, no music, nothing out of the ordinary, except for maybe the lawyer position. If you're good at tennis, see if you can stress it a little, since it's your only sport.
