Personal Statements for UC: both of them were written... decently, you can judge based on what they are based on
One of them was about a letter i wrote to my 8th grade science teacher who lost her husband
The other was about me losing my mom at 6 years old and how living in a 3 person family shaped my desire to become an engineer

I’d say both are reaches, but I like your chances at UCLA better than Berkeley. Your GPA (assuming it’s on a 5.0 scale) seems decent but I think the SAT is a little low for UC standards. The 750 on the math II is a bonus.
UCLA- Low Reach/Reach
Berkeley- Reach

@nspoff thanks for the prediction, but I have a question: Will UCs still look at my SAT score if I didn’t report it, i only sent it. I’d much rather only have them look at my ACT…

I believe if you sent them both, they are able to see them both, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s good that on both tests you scored high on the math sections, which shows you’re strong in the subject of your desired field.
Best of luck!

Your SAT is a bit low, but nowadays GPA has more emphasis at UCs. And your GPA is great, especially with the upward trend. So I think your chances at LA and Cal are pretty decent, but it’s not a definite yes. Just wait it out, cross your fingers, and hope for the best :)

Chance back please? For UCD, UCSB, UCSC, and UCSD for English & Sociology major :)
