Essay Prompt #1: she is explaining how she has been affected by her health issues being born with a spinal cord related neurological disorderl.

Class rigor:
AP: WH, USH, BIO, PSYCH, EngLit, EngLang, Econ/Gov, Comp Sc, Spanish, Env Sc.

She wants to do her B.A in Psychology.

Do you think she stands a chance? She is too nervous of her GPA. Out of 30 courses that she has taken -- she has 15As and 15Bs and so don't know what to expect...

Thank you to anyone who can give inputs to see what are her chances for an admission to UCB...

Probably a reach since her (UC weighted) GPA is not >= 4.0.

@ucbalumnus: Thanks. I have heard that if her essay has the details of what she went through her entire HS, it will kind of make up for her low GPA. Is that true?

If her essay clearly demonstrates passion (backed up by ECs), future goals, and evidence of how she could benefit and build the campus, then she stands a good chance of admission. Keep in mind that this matters regardless of what GPA you have; people with 4.0s who don’t articulate how they can offer something unique to Berkeley are commonly rejected.

@berkeley17 – Thanks for your input!! I totally agree with what you say about articulating in the essay.

Well, one question though – her essay prompt is “explain the world you come from” in which case, she mostly has to explain the “past” and maybe a little about the “future goals”. The Prompt #2 is talking about the achievement that she is proud of.

Just curious (based on your user id) – Are you enrolled in UCB?
