Chance for UGA, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Mercer University, University of Chicago, UNC Chapel Hill,

What is my chance of getting into these schools?

If I have a 3.7-3.8 UW GPA & a 3.9 GPA,I am currently a sophmore in high school. My Sat score is 1450-1500 range. I have worked two different jobs during these years. I also have taken some AP classes, but I have mainly done dual enrollment classes.

I have also gone to a leadership program at Morehouse College for two summers. I have played varsity soccer for three years and I have also played club soccer. I currently worked as a tutor for low-income students in elementary to middle school students.

Like everyone else, you have a shot. Does shot = 50%? Nope, never. A shot is a shot, and I don’t think anyone here can numerically quantify what chance you have.

thank you for the advice

I think that you are a strong candidate for any school, at this rate. I am also a high school sophomore looking to apply to UW CS, MIT and Stanford, and I have only taken 4 APs: Calc BC (9th, 5), Phys C Mech (10th), Spanish Lang (10th) and CSP (10th). Like you, I have also done dual enrollment classes (Calc 3, Diff Eq, Stats). I only have a paltry 1420 (740M/680EBRW) on the PSAT.

Given that I am the top student in my school and was the top student in my last, I think you, with your flying colors on the SAT and other course load, will have no problem!

Sadly, I think it’s impossible to say that someone will have “no problem” getting into any highly competitive school regardless of grades or test scores. LOTS of kids with high GPA’s and high test scores will be turned away. My D was waitlisted at Vanderbilt with a perfect GPA and high test scores. Lots of her friends had similar situations at the schools you listed. That’s NOT to say you don’t have a shot. You absolutely do. But no one can count on admission at any of those schools. You just need to keep up your grades, keep preparing for your tests, and participating in activities you enjoy and find interesting. Your essays and letters of rec count for a lot too.
