ECS:

Volunteer at church (10-12):

Other than volunteering, I have to put together a final project and presentation.

School Trips:

Summer 2008- Went to Paris, Normandy & the Loire Valley region in France.
Summer 2010- Went to France, Spain, Italy & Monaco.

Anyone…?
Bump

I don’t know about UNCW but ODU looks like a match to me.

Pretty sure UNCW is quite easy to get into… I think with your grades, you’re in for sure.

you’ll definitely get in odu without a doubt. and you have a pretty good chance at unc wilmington.

btw, if you plan to major in nursing, you might want to take a look at vcu - they have the best medical/nursing program in va (depending on whether you’re in state or not).

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I’m in Virginia, so UNC Wilmington would be out of state. ODU is in state.

Never mind then. You probably won’t get in to Wilmington.

Anyone else…?

Is there some specific reason I wont get in since I’m out of state into UNCW? Because apparently I could easily get in if I was in-state, but out of state completely made it a reject.

You should be able to get into ODU without much problem with your GPA. I think their average is around a 3.3 now. They have a joint program for nursing with EVMS right down the street that is pretty well regarded. Lots of hands on work at the hospital etc. Of the two, I would think ODU would be better for nursing, but UNCW is a little closer to the beach than ODU and Wrightsville Beach is a little cooler than Va. Beach.

Does it look like I could get into UNCW?

I know my math SAT is on the lower side, but math is not one of my strong points, and I’m looking at nursing. So I wouldn’t have to take many math related classes, and I’m already taking (and am going to end up with an A in) a college-level statistics class. Will that change how much emphasis they put on my sat scores?

Hi! =]
I’m not familiar with the schools you are looking at, so I can’t say what your chances are. But it looks like other ppl think you are good! =]

I think if you get an A in a college level math course, they will likely to be more confident in your mathematics abilities. ^^good luck!

Simply because with public schools, they are typically obligated to enroll in-state applicants, since they are the ones that pay taxes and such. OOS applicants will have a much harder time.

Ok thanks, my guidance counselor said that taking classes at my community college will definitely help my chances of getting into an out of state college. Of course… I’m not sure if he really knows what he’s talking about. But I figured that since I’m making good grades in college-level courses, when I send in my college credit transfer request (not sure whats its called) it will look impressive.

To dd1993- Do you think I’d have a better chance of being admitted if I applied early action? I know that out of state admissions is only 18%.

If you really want UNCW. Go visit and ask the admissions staff what they think. They have one of the best admission staffs of any public and truly like to help students… You will likely be accepted if they get to know you, but I’m not sure your be admitted to the Nursing Program because it is among their most competitive programs.

definitely odu not sure about wilmington but write a good essay :)

I don’t know how much you know about the two schools so I figure I can give you my two cents on one of them. I actually think ODU would be a good school for you. I know the college pretty well as I live only 10 minutes away from it. A couple of my older friends go there and are in the exercise science program, and I’ve heard good things about the nursing program, too. As a matter of fact, someone mentioned working at EVMS, which is right next to the big hospital in the area, SNGH. I volunteered at this hospital and remember quite a few of the nurses said they graduated from ODU. Norfolk’s a great area. The oceanfront at VA Beach is about 30 minutes away and it’s awesome in the summer. I don’t know how much you are into sports, but if you are, ODU is a good school for that because it has the big basketball team in the area, and it just got football last year. There’s a lot of school spirit at ODU and like I said, Norfolk is a great city (although it does have its share of project-type areas).

I’m certaintly looking at ODU… but what about UNC Wilmington? I have campus tours scheduled for both places.

Anyone else??
Bump!

I’m also not familiar with your schools. Looks like you have a pretty good shot though.
