I'm a senior thinking of pursuing a Computer Science degree, and right now I'm considering University of Washington and University of Illinois Urbana Champaign as my highest choices.

SAT: 2270 (1500), 760 CR 740 Math 770 Writing
ACT: 34
National Merit Semifinalist (224)

9th grade:2.5
10th grade:2.9
11th grade:3.0 UW, 3.3 W
12th grade looks to be 3.5 UW 3.8 W so far

APs are Chemistry and World History in 11th grade, Physics B and US Government in 12th grade
Took 2 years of Mock Trial, 2 years of Science Olympiad (3rd place team in state for 11th grade), 2 years of Rotary INTERACT Club, member of Mensa

I know the GPA alone is going to drag me down pretty significantly, but I'm wondering if the other things might be good enough for those colleges to at least consider me. UW and UIUC are certainly going to be a stretch, but I hope it's not absolutely impossible.

I feel that UW is a match.
Q1 and Q3
SAT Critical Reading: 510 / 650
SAT Math: 570 / 700
SAT Writing: 520 / 640
UIUC is certainly going to harder:
SAT Critical Reading: 550 / 680
SAT Math: 680 / 790
SAT Writing: 570 / 680

Could I have a chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1571691-chances-options.html

Don’t know how much your GPA may affect…But since your have 760 on CR section I think these two schools can be your match

I’m kinda worried because my counselor has never seen such a huge gap between GPA and standardized test scores before. My cumulative is 3.0, which would normally mean certain rejection, but a 2270 and a 34 would also normally mean certain acceptance. No one I know really knows what to make of my stats, so I’m hoping CC could provide some wisdom on this.

How is your class rank? It seems you did have a good course load which may help a little bit on the low GPA. UIUC would be tough as they only consider GPA, SAT1/ACT, and your essay in the admission. The school report and counselor recommendation may help to explain your low GPA for UW.
