omg u need to chill. its not like going to harvard is life or death. u need to hang with friends more have SOME fun and not worry about school 24-7

I don’t go to Harvard, but I know a lot of people who’ve gone to Harvard. You don’t have extremely good chances. First of all the SAT is extrememly important and unless your score is very good nothing else matters much. Assuming you do well on the SAT’s, your stats don’t look very good. If you do get all A’s (which is very difficult), then you have a shot b/c GPA and SAT are of primary importance. The extra-cirriculars aren’t great and be aware that leadership positions are required in all of your activities. You do have several extra-cirriculars that are fine. There, however, needs to be something that stands out in your set of extra-cirriculars. For example, it seems as if you are a dedicated musician. If you display your position in multiple ensembles then that helps. Do what you can, and plans will change. You’ll figure it out eventually.

What in the world are you doing on here? (directed to GAC1107)

Try not to burn yourself out in the first couple years, colleges know people change, and you first couple are only important for you GPA. Focus on thriving outside of school, too. You want your extra-curriculars to reflect personality and interest as well as dedication, so do something CREATIVE. think about why you want to go to Harvard, and don’t be too fixated. Things change, and if your only holding on to a lifetime dream, they will sense that.

Hmm, how are you taking AP English 3 AND AP English 4? Is one of them Lit and Comp and the other Language and Comp?

The kind of person GAC1107 is not really a successor. You can easily tell by how he answered that question. Also since he said ‘Hang out with friends more’ If anything for ‘peterson !’ it is a very smart thing that he thought about going to harvard at early times. Meaning he can be more prepared for it and so on. Once you get to harvard you can have fun there! It’s College of course you need to study but… At college its more exciting and hugh with more variety of people with different cultures. So GAC1107 I would like to hear what you do for your like right now. If your a student tell me your score for subjects etc. If you say for example “I WENT TO HARVARD AND GET A PH.D AT 16 YEARS OLD HA! BEAT THAT” <----- is bull.

im not seeing anything stand out here … what is your passion ? at this rate ull get rejected , find something you really like and EXPRESS it

live your life alright? it’s okay to succeed but dont set up your life for one college. you’re a freshman you have a lot ahead of you. work on your sat and keep your grades up. find your passion and set up your extracurriculars around that. do good on the sat subject tests too. practice on your writing, make sure that you can communicate yourself well through your words. so you need: near perfect test scores, awesome grades, great extracurriculars, awesome essay and you just might get in. OH! and have a good relationship with your teachers or some sort of adult so your recommendations are good. but you have to understand that some people who are highly qualified dont get in, some people that are under qualified get in. just do your very best. but getting into harvard is just so iffy. no one really knows what exactly harvard wants because they accept people all over the spectrum.

Dude, this is such an old thread. Please check the dates of threads in the future before you post, alrite?

That was a “hey by the way here’s one way to be a more helpful forumer” rather than a “WOAHMYGOD N00B U SUK” or whatever. No, you don’t suck. It’s an easy mistake to make, it happens a lot, nbd.

Ha alright. i didnt know how to take it. when i got to this thread it was at the top of the list so i didnt look at the date. people can be mean for no reason ya know? but thanks :p

You really need to calm down.

peterson is now a hs junior, i wonder what he’s like now lol

I agree with the President guy. We give “getting in to a good school” too much importance. Agreed,a good school DOES play a part in your life but should it BE your life?Should you concentrate on “making stuff stand out”, running after SAT scores or AP classes? Or should you just live life the way you want to, without basing it around or tying it to getting in some place like Harvard?

I guess, 10 years from now what’ll matter to me more is I had a life. And I didn’t let exams,grades,extra-cs govern my choices/ideals/passions.
