Chance Into UCLA/UCB

Hello guys,
I know that it is way too early to begin worrying, but can anyone chance me for UCLA and UCB?
Any help would be appreciated!

Major: Chemical Engineering

Pre-Req: My school is quarter based. Still need to take 2 quarter o-chem, 1 quarter bio, property of material, matlab. Will all be completed by Spring though. (So, by spring, I will be done with all pre-req as well as all recommended courses).

GPA: Currently have 4.0, but I think I am going to get a B+ or A- this quarter in bio, so lets say its 3.96/3.98 (Yes my school has -/+)

Personal Statement: should be good. Talked about how my personal experience with cancer (lost one eye), affected how I want to become chemical engineer (go to pharmaceuticals field and do research to help cancer treatment and to make these treatments affordable for everyone).

EC’s:
Volunteer works:

  1. Tennis coach for 300 hours
  2. Ramen shop at japan 20hrs (summer)
  3. Tutor science/math 32 hours (summer)
    Other:
    Varsity tennis 3 hrs
Math team (copresident junior year high school)
Best math student award sophomore year high school (annual convention)
    Other really small stuff…

AP scores: AP Chem, AP physics Mech, AP japanese, AP US history, AP Calc BC, AP stats
Got 5 on all.

IGETC: Completed (I know it means nothing)
Total credit: Over 150 by Spring for sure counting AP scores.

I am transferring from California CC, not applying to financial aid or anything.

I started to attend CC in my senior year high school through my high school’s program, and this is my second year in CC. Thus, I am basically trying to skip one year ahead of my peers by doing junior transfer.

Those schools would be foolish not to accept you.

Ditto, everything looks great!

Thanks for the response guys! Really makes me feel better.

Any more would be awesome

You’ll be fine man. You have great stats for a major as difficult as Chemical Engineering. Just keep your head up, focus and you should be fine.

Its just that I see posts about 4.0 people not being accepted and such. Makes me worry a lot.

Many of those applicants were probably missing one of the required classes for their majors. When it comes to UCLA/UCB engineering, completing all the required classes can be the difference between acceptance and rejection.

@Cayton I will have it all completed by spring, but when people talk about “missing” pre-reqs, do they mean that they dont have pre-reqs completed by fall when they apply? Or do they mean that pre-reqs wont be completed by spring of transfer?

@melon12312
I think by spring before transferring. All things being equal, though, it probably is better to have it completed by end of the fall semester/quarter in which you’re applying.
