My DS is applying to a bunch of schools, mix of reaches, targets but not enough safeties, in that he would truly want to go there. Interested in economics and business. Prefers a city but most important is a school with a strong sense of community. Is this list off/any suggestions of safeties strong in business/econ with great communities? Many thanks.

a lot of those targets should be reaches (Georgetown, Swarthmore, Williams at least). I would suggest finding more schools w/ acceptance rates in the mid-low 30s instead of below 20! I’m not saying he won’t get in, just that sometimes it’s good to have low targets! UW seattle, lowers UCS for safety? other flagship publics? Occidental?

Northwestern is often applied to by students who apply Chicago.
UNC chapel hill perhaps as well (match or safety)
SMU as a saftey?
