What Are my Chances of getting into:
MIT
Caltech
Harvard
Princeton
Stanford
Carnegie
Boston University
Purdue
U-Penn

aren't MIT decisions already out?

Actually, I'm applying for Class of 2014
I'm a Junior...

ohk..you are well on track, mate..i'd suggest you take around 4 subject tests to bolster your application even more and try to get 800s..i am saying this because the science that we learn in India is of a much higher level than what is tested on the test, so it should not be much of a problem to get 800 in phy, chem and even math II. Also, are you gonna apply for aid? if yes, then it's gonna be much more tougher..good luck.

Yeah I'm doing my SAT IIs in Physics, Chem, Math and maybe Literature/World History. Maybe I'll give SAT Math lvl 1
Thanks :)
My family can't afford more than 50%, so I'll have to get aid from somewhere. I know its really hard to get it but I'm an American permanent resident so hopefully it should be easier.
And I'm going to try to get external scholarships!

I have seen less qualified applicants accepted. I think you have a good chance.

If you want to improve your profile, do some sports. You seem very focused on academics, which is good of course as universities are academic institutions, but some kind of sport achievement usually helps.

If you are an American Permanent Resident then why are you living in India?

My friend here in Canada had a similar profile and he got 800s on SAT chem, physics, and mathII...He got rejected by MIT this year. I'm pretty sure MIT is one of, if not the one, hardest elite colleges to get into as an international student, but you are a permanent resident, so I think you have a good chance.

You are definetly into Purdue, Carnegie, and Boston U. Others are a reach, but I think you'll make it in. Though, some of your curriculars look a bit laundry listed.

I'm studying here, my parents wanted me to finish secondary education in India so after I finish the IB I'll be heading to the US..
Thanks for the insight, Poseidenj. I was thinking the same thing, wondering whether my extra curricular activities were enough...they're very cliche agreed, the only thing I think I'm doing differently is my social work in public health. And probably Robotics.

Thanks Aze-- well sports really isn't my forte, I've tried, and I've played on the soccer & rugby teams for fun but I just haven't made a mark anywhere. The only sport I can really play is badminton- and I've played Inter-school so hopefully that should count.

I think you have a good shot. I quickly skimmed over... have you won any state/national awards? I know a senior who was accepted by Yale with a perfect on the crit. reading and writing, while a 760 on the math. He's also #1 of the class and has won science awards in the state in top 5.

I think you have a good shot. I didn't understand all your extra curricular activities but they seemed impressive. You can see other students who were accepted into those schools on myCollegeSTAT:
myCollegeSTAT - Stanford University
myCollegeSTAT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology
myCollegeSTAT - Harvard University
myCollegeSTAT - Boston University
myCollegeSTAT - Princeton University
myCollegeSTAT - Carnegie Mellon University

Yes, I did mean a bit as in "oh wow, someone applying to a top tier school with these extra currics...seen this before. But also it seems as if you just heard you could do these activities and said "those will look good on a college application! I'll do them!".
