Essays + Added arts supplement
In my opinion, I have an especially strong Personal Statement relating to my intended major using a personal anecdote regarding Emily Dickinson and a vanilla candle I found at Walmart in order to demonstrate my passion for English. Also, I submitted an arts supplement (I have taken professional figure drawing classes for 3 years and have an art mentor of 5 years).
Cost Constraints
Not too worried about this factor.

You have decent credentials but it’s hard college to get into. You can try ED but given how ED results have been this year it still seems long reach.
Good luck
Thank you! Yeah, it’s definitely the longest reach out of all of my schools.
I think you sound like an excellent candidate. Did you participate or apply to their diversity program A2A?
I participated in the virtual A2A program in the fall!
That already shows that you are an interesting candidate to them. During your session did they mention if participation in the program increased an applicant’s chances of acceptance?
They said they would take it into consideration, which I assume means increased chances?
If you look around here on CC you will find that in the past some A2A/DIVOH participants said they heard staff in the info sessions say it would increase chances.
D21 applied and participated in A2A, but she said the staff member (It may or may not have been an AO I cannot recall) in her session was asked if it increased chances and they said that it did not. Ultimately, she didn’t apply to Amherst College, but to Williams College and was accepted so we will never know.
Her sister, D18 was accepted to Amherst College, but did not apply to A2A. IMHO I have to believe that it does speak to the quality of you as an applicant and their interest in you, even if it is just in some small way since they don’t accept everyone. Congratulations and best of luck to you. Amherst College is such a special place
