<p>I'm looking to major in political science with a possible double major or minor in English. </p>

<p>Class: 2011
Race: Caucasian</p>

<p>Grades: My school doesn't have grades that are convertible to a GPA, but my unweighted average is 96.5 and weighted is about 100. My class rank is 12 out of 292.</p>

<p>SATs (retaking, first shot):
Math: 700
Reading: 750
Writing: 750</p>

<p>SAT IIs:
Literature: 790
US History: 770
Math 1: 700</p>

<p>Classes:
I've taken the highest level of classes I can take for everything. I have taken/will take all the APs available at my school (expect Computer Science). They are: AP US History, AP Psych, AP English Lit, AP Calc</p>

<p>Additionally, I took Intro to Political Science spring semester of my junior year at my local state college and got an A, and am currently taking an Intro to Philosophy class as well as a 200 level Political Theory class that is comprised of mostly junior and seniors in college who are political science majors.</p>

<p>I took a creative writing intensive (Juniper Institute) at UMass Amherst the summer before my junior year, and received an A with college credit.</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
-4 years LD Debate, Co-Captain junior year, Captain senior year
-4 years GSA, Co-President sophomore-senior year
-National Hr Society VP
-4 years tech/acting in school plays
-4 years of school lit magazine
-4 years political volunteering in summer for various campaigns, intern summer before senior year for Maine Democratic Party
-4 years doing stuff with a non profit local youth writing organization, was chosen out of over 1000 students to co-write a picture book they got professionally illustrated, that is due to be published this fall
-3 years Relay for Life team (sophomore-senior year)
-2 years interning for a book advertising firm, (summer before junior year/summer before senior year), included being paid to run a Middle Eastern Partnership Initiative program
-2 years Model UN (freshman+sophomore year, then it was cut)
-2 years French club (junior and senior year)</p>

<p>Awards:
-Connecticut College Book Award
-Placed first in state at various debate tournaments
-Honorable mention for Women's Literary Union essay contest</p>

<p>Does my list look balanced enough? I'm especially concerned with my chances for Columbia and Barnard.</p>

<p>looking good for ED at Columbia. You could bump it up by adding a creative writing supplement</p>

<p>I’d say you have a good shot at Barnard, but for Columbia rank and scores are low with no stand out EC. With under 10% admit rate, it’s unlikely.</p>

<p>You have really strong stats (and I especially envy your SAT score), and your ECs are pretty strong. I think you have good chances at Columbia, Yale, and Brown. You will most likely get into NYU. Just write some outstanding essays (which I’m pretty sure won’t be too difficult for you), and you should be fine. Good luck! And chance me back?</p>

@luckycharms07 I would chance you back, but I’m just another clueless senior in high school, so I don’t want to chance you. If I knew enough about the college admissions process, I wouldn’t be posting a chance of my own. I could make something up to chance you with, but I’m afraid it’d be horribly inaccurate.</p>
