Can I get into University of Virginia/ UPENN/Georgetown? Extra Advice from current students appreciated!?
While UPENN and Georgetown are my "well its worth a shot" schools, I am curious as to whether I have a chance. The University of Virginia is my first practical choice, as I want to participate in their Political and Social Thought major. By the way, I am a current junior in a highly ranked Kansas Public School (top 100 in the nation)

Here are my credentials... thanks so much for any advice.

GPA
UW: 3.93 (hopefully at least 3.95 by senior year)
W: 4.4

AP's:
Euro 4
US TBD
ENG TBD
(I will be taking AP ENG LIT, AP US GOVT, and MAYBE AP Biology as a senior)

Was first in my class my Sophomore year, now I am probably 10th

EC's
-Varsity Debater- High winning record, attended national tournaments, will have a rec from my coach

-DECA(International Competitive Business Club)- As a freshman I was third in state, sending me to nationals. As a sophomore I was second in state sending me to nationals where I placed 4th out of 16,000 international high school students. I hope to take it all this year :)
-National Honors Society
-Started Kansas' first Patriots club with Hundreds of members and we do lots of community service and fundraisers
-Started Kansas City's Kick for Kids, donating shoes to the poor and less fortunate of Kansas City
-Hope to be at least a national merit semi finalist

-Volunteered as a TA at a daycare for homless children

Extras:
-I am 25% Native American and 25% Mexican
-My legal gaurdian, my father, is a Senior, probably age 70. (I have heard this earns scholarships)
-My God Mother's family has a wing named after them at every ivy league... so I am not sure if this will affect me or not, but it is the closest connection I have to Ivy
-My strong suite is my writing, so hopefully I can demonstrate that in my essays.

THANKS SO MUCH! My father did not graduate from highschool, and really does not know how the system works nowadays, so I really appreciate any guidance I can get!

Well its kind of hard to predict your chances when your ACT/SAT scores aren’t listed. Your ETC’s are good and your minority status helps so if you ACT/SAT scores are in the ballpark I think you have a decent shot for Georgetown, a chance for Penn, and you probably get in UVA.

Edit: Well your ACT or hopeful ACT even is kinda low so I would say that makes your chances for penn a not too bad reach but I think you would still have a good shot at Georgetown with a 32.

I think you have a really good chance at georgetown and virginia. penn may be a slight stretch. i find it funny that you say your father is “probably 70”. i know of the blue valley schools in kansas and they are basically feeders for ivy league school because they have so many intelligent minorities like you. as a minority from kansas, you will have a really good shot

Get your ACT score higher and you’ll have a shot at Penn. Penn will still, of course, be a reach, but it’s not entirely out of range. Georgetown will be a lower reach, and I’d say you have a very good chance at UVA.

It’s hard to tell without your SAT subject tests and rank… I know you’re top 10, but top 10 out of how many?
Your URM status also helps… I’d say you have a shot at both schools, assuming you get good SAT IIs.
