UVA...chances???

Right now, I'm considering applying to UVA next fall ED. Though I've been wavering between Gtown and UVA as my top choice, I think I would be just as happy at UVA...if I got in of course. Anyways, here's how I break down:

Female - junior at an all girls catholic school in Missouri

GPA: 4.5ish, we don't do class rank, but I believe I'm in the top 5% at least

Classes - I've taken the most challenging courseload available at my school; we offer very view APs, but I'm taking all that I can, this year and next year:
Honors Geom, Honors Algebra II, PreCalc (honors)
Honors Bio, Honors Chem, Honors Physics
Acc. English I, Honors World Lit, AP Language
Geography, Honors World Hist, AP US History
Spanish II, Spanish III, ACCP Spanish IV
Required Theo courses
Drama II, Drama II, Journalism, Newspaper

I've received mostly A's, lowest grade yet has been a B+ in an honors course.

Students Assembled for Global Awareness (3 years)
Varsity tennis (3 years)
Varsity club lacrosse (3 years)
NHS (2 years)

Studied at a language school in Spain for two weeks - top marks

SAT (taken once so far): V-600, M-600, W-750

This is all I can think of now, though I've been doing all kinds of things (including other various, non-school related activities and service projects) - I plan on taking the AP exams this spring, and possibly AP Spanish, though I'm not sure about that one. Also, if any of you have any suggestions that would boost my chances, please, I'd love to hear them!! Thanks

youre going to have to pull up your SATs for both georgetown and uva..although being in missouri helps you a lot.

yeah - that's my biggest concern right now. I'm taking the next one in April and hopefully, after another semester of AP language, I'll be able to bump up the CR and just work on math, though math has never been my strongpoint.

just wondering, i live in az, how does that factor into my admissions?

UVA out of state is tough, and Georgetown is tough for everyone. The SAT is critical: Georgetown doesn't even look at the writing section yet, so for them you only have a 1200. Try to get the M+V to 1400 (even through combined sittings is OK) and you will be in much much better shape.

well for private colleges in general, how does state factor in?

for private colleges, being further away is an advantage, with the exception of overrepresented states from far away- i want to go to carleton, but after minnesota, where it is, NY is one of their most represented states. so it's not going to help me out because they already get a lot of applicants from here. if you're from a state where they don't get many applicants, it's likely to increase your chances.

oh i see thanks. im not quite sure how many actually apply, but for az, very few get admitted...

Well first of all I would agree with everyone above, you need to drastically bring up your SAT or take the ACT. I would apply Early Action to Georgetown and wait on UVA until regular decision if I were you. This will allow you to a.) Assess your acceptances and b.) Not be part of a binding admission program.

Yeah, that's the main thing that was holding me back from applying early to UVA. Also, I was considering applying to the Gtown MSB because I'm interested in International Business, but I'm not sure how strong their undergraduate program or how competitive it is...so any thoughts on that are more than welcome
