You guys may tell me that I'll get it, but also consider that I won't even pay a dollar. Also, I have taken a gap year.

What is your intended majors??? I would suggest u also add Georgia Tech to ur list of safeties/matches

Physics or Phycology. Ok thanks, I’ll have a look :)

@riwaldo Hey, where did you mention Psychology research paper in your application?

Solid chances for your safeties ( You will most probably get into all).
I would suggest you to remove UNO from the list and add other college/University which guarantees scholarship solely on GPA and SAT . ( search on CC, there are plenty. Why? Because UNO isn’t that great University to get into)

Caltech- Slim chances. I have heard only few gifted people go there. But it doesn’t mean you can’t try. And by the way, you seem gifted as well.

Princeton- 70% in 30% out I think ( The University is really hard to get into, hardly takes Nepalis … But then again, you are awesome. Time will say)

Harvard: Two Nepalis in a single year? I would love to see that. Everything now depends on the essay. Everything else here seems perfect. If they already have taken someone like you, then chances will be automatically slim.

NYU AD: One of the guys from BNKS went there three years ago. Had similar grades as yours. Most probably in!

Dartmouth-- Essay! Essay! Essay!
The guy who got into Dartmouth two years ago (two ? three? not sure) just got into dartmouth (yes, just dartmouth!). He had an exceptional essay…

Jacobs: Are you sure? I would suggest you to choose some other University.
( Yes Yes in… )

Williams: Yep… Solid chances.

Vassar: Solid Chances ( How many Nepalis have been accpeted there till now? Haven’t heard any!)

Final notes: You are frigging perfect for a Nepali student and don’t you ever forget that.
Please come Nepal after you complete your studies, Nepal surely does need people like you.

PS: Please include Amherst, too. ( is need blind to internationals and loves people like you)

Good luck !!

All I have been doing for past 3 years is making myself decent for application officers
I think I do need to take some colleges out and add some.
Huhahuha: I wrote on activity that I have been studying psychology on my own and have now written a research paper. I wanted to send it too (research paper) but my I couldn’t finish it on time. I have written about it on additional info too.

rivaldo,
Honestly, your stats are breathtaking , for dummies like me. Boxing! research paper published in “Psychology” magazine! a novel of your own! Full time teaching in Khotang as a volunteer! Near perfect scores!!!

You seem like an American boy born in the wrong part of the planet. I am convinced you really want to get into American colleges: which you certainly will. I really wonder though, what your parents said about you when you started teaching in public schools in Khotang for free and how you convinced them of getting into colleges hundreds of thousands of miles away for free and what would you do from there( and why exactly do you want to do that)?

I wonder more if you can explain a little bit about your novel. I also love to read classic works in English, but more, the best English works by foreign authors. My parents don’t really want me to indulge in nonsense of any kind, but I have been secretly thinking of participating in the BBC radio play writing competetion ( u are most welcome if You want to participate as well; the deadline is JAN 30: go to bbc.com/radioplay if u need more info;.). It is not that I want to read English my whole life- in fact I don’t see any point of degrees with names like “creative writing” which aim to make you an author. ( I will later explain perhaps of what I want to do, and why exactly am I applying abroad? )

There is a special method of writing in English from societies with some bedic roots- countries like Nepal, India, srilanka, Bangladesh. I would like to share my experiences of writing it( which I will try my best to finish in 3 to 5 more days and get that thing out of my mind. ).

And last advice for u, go to pustakalya.org to download scanned copies of : classic works in English, classic works in Nepali; which have the very best expressions( verbs that hit like a kingfisher hitting a fish, nouns, adjectives as beautiful as the ororchids, phrases that make things as clear as sun; but mostly, they have true elemetns of life, true elements of death. And whoever says that people from the hills of this region are fools and have meaningless lives, are blind by the mind) of the universe within Nepal. And this is my lifelong commitment to become the sort of person that parents and other elders wished me to be when I was small and in village.

That organisation was started by a MIT alumni ,who had gone to MIT 3 years before I was even born.

I think I forgot to mention something above,. Why exactly do I want to go to USA, and read what? job what? do what? see what?

I wish to become an academic, who leads his field. I am not going to lie, I did not see such things as really good academics here in Nepal. That was what I thought before I started to think about applying abroad. My perception has now faced the exact opposite side. True, there may not be many smart ones here, and few, i f not nonexistent ones who are famous outside Mechi, outside Kali, outside Kanchanjunga: outside the boundary. But there are many dedicated well meaning men and women. And what they lack in achievement in their fields, they make up with their position and pride within the society. There are doctors( really big, great doctors), engiineers( really nerdy ones), authors( there have always been great authors here since almost a hundred years ago), lawyers, reporters, entrepreneurs, fathers, mothers. So, if I really go abroad, I will consider it not distinctly different from the education here- that will be a shameful cowardliness- but a refined form of education in Nepal itself.

To, really work in academic scientific world, as a doctor or a professor, or any professional and achieve fame for it in Nepal is strangely difficult( I have seen MSC students from public campuses copying published research papers as their “thesis”; hardly understanding a word written there , much less the scientific value of it. Upon my inquiry of such strange behavior, they replied " babu! ma lai ta padhai sakkayar chhito master bannu chha, aru malai ke matalab?" I don’t blame him, and I don’t ever expect to see a world full of altruistic souls( that will be unnatural).

But, things just don’t change by themselves abroad too. My only hope right now in life is to get into great colleges and start that career which I always wanted. But Going abroad comes with its price. First, it is rare for foreigners to make great careers in USA,. Secondly, if the situation was same here and abroad, I wouldn’t have thought about going abroad for a microsecond.

I have seen some people making up some sort of organization in usa to"help" Nepal. But seriously, that sort of “help” is not what Nepal really expects. Is it?

As of today, the only options that are ringing in my head are to have an academic career, all the while being a Nepali, and earn undisputed fame as a Nepali.

Or, the second is finishing education, getting the Phds, and returning to Nepal for works.

I am Not bragging here about myself, but saying things for argument’s sake.

The most important thing is that one has to achieve things that one went abroad to achieve.

O.o

@Saptagandaki : Seriously man, how much tym did u spend write this? However, (y)

@Saptagandaki you just poured your heart out man!

i’d say that you’re an excellent candidate for any college. which one did u get into tho?
