Chance me anyone? :) Thanks! (Blair, Westminster, Hotchkiss, Taft, Loomis Chaffee)

Hey there, I'm a freshman (14) and i am applying for Blair, Westminster, Hotchkiss, Taft, Loomis Chaffee, at the moment for sure, but I may add Middlesex and a few others to visit.
I'm super nervous about applying and I think getting opinions from other people would help me get a little more confident.. haha. Well be honest and chance me!

A HUGE WEAKNESS THAT I HAVE IS MY SSAT (I THINK)
I got around the mid 70s when I did a practice test out of the princeton review, but I havent done the actual test yet. ive done practice myself, and will also be taking classes before my ssat in october. aiming for a 80-90 %, would be shocked if i didnt get over 75 on the real thing! A lot of my friends have been bragging about getting 90-99% :(

3.7 / 4 GPA (8th grade)
Pretty sure I'll be getting nothing under a B- for freshman year

Question: is continuity in a club/sport really important? :S Or do they like to see that you are trying out new things, etc?

THANKS! if u think there is any other information I shud write down here, let me know!
:D

Probably continuity…

You sound like a good candidate for Blair. That doesn’t mean that I think you’re in, but rather that I think your application will be given serious consideration. I cannot comment on the other schools.

Do you plan to visit your schools in the fall? You may find that you develop preferences after a few visits. For example, a large school can generally offer more in the way of academics. However, small to mid-sized schools usually have a stronger community, and the opportunity to get to know most students and faculty. Enjoy your visits!

would financial aid drop my chances? :/

Unfortunately, financial aid does tend to lower your chances at most schools. Be sure to apply to a range of schools, and find some schools that you love and that place you in the top 25% of applicants.

why dont you think you cant comment on the other schools? You dont think I qualify / you dont know much about the others?

Westminster (because of its small size), Taft and Hotchkiss would probably be “reach” school for you with 70’s on the SSAT and some B’s on your transcript. That doesn’t mean you don’t have a chance. Essays, interviews, and teacher rec.'s count for a lot. Blair and Loomis seems to be good matches. You might want to add a “safety” school to your list. Other schools to consider are Berkshire, Millbrook, and Kent if you want to stay in the CT area. There are also some great single sex schools in the CT area.

I am a current Blair parent, and I’ve had a child there for 3 years. I have an idea about the student profiles. That is why I felt I could comment about Blair. I don’t have that kind a knowledge about your other schools. When you interview, talk to the coaches of your sports, and see if you can send recordings of your instruments.
