Not sure what you mean by “split between both” since you list 4 schools. I know Bowdoin, perhaps because of its location, has a harder time recruiting URMs, so that would be in your favor and could make you a desirable candidate. Please make sure your application/essays are free from spelling errors!

If you are split between schools and hoping you can get into more than one, perhaps you shouldn’t do ED? My S did ED to Bowdoin last year and was admitted. But he’ll never know if he would have been admitted elsewhere. Didn’t matter to him since it was his first choice.

If you feel you will experience regret/remorse by withdrawing your other applications should you be admitted ED, then don’t apply ED.

Thanks for the reply it means a lot. And I ment to say I was split mainly between Amherst and bowdoin, but I do want to know If I can get into the others. Do you think I would get in if I do RD?

I think it’s impossible to chance anybody – I don’t know what your complete application with essays/recommendations looks like and I’m not the Admissions office comparing you to all the other applicants. The best you can do is see if your scores/GPA are “in range” for a school; if not then the chances are unlikely.

Schools like Bowdoin and Amherst are very competitive; last year for RD Amherst’s admit rate was 10% and Bowdoin’s was 13.8%. Pomona was 11.9%; Couldn’t find William’s RD-only rate but overall was 16.73% which actually makes it the highest overall rate of the 4 schools.

Sounds like you have a unique story and are a good student. I truly believe (financial aid aside) ED should be only be considered by students who have a clear first choice. Hypothetically if you were admitted to all 4 schools, can you name which school you would choose? If so, then apply ED to that school.

While previous post is correct, you will have much higher odds ED. Sounds like you are pretty close to being able to go for one school. Go for it!

If I were accepted to all four schools I would like I go to Amherst, but I know it is very difficult to get into so I have other options. I am positive I will have great reconditions and I will most likely do well on the essays.

Nowadays, there are too many applicants with 2200 or higher scores who apply to the top liberal arts colleges. This means that you have to have an outstanding extracurricular activities that other applicants don’t have. In your extracurricular activities, there are pretty cliche. Everyone is involved in Spanish club, environmental club and so on… the important fact is the leadership. It doesn’t matter if you are involved in only two or three clubs. If you are leader in these clubs, you have more possibility to get in. Many top colleges recommend to take SAT 2.
