I think you definitely have a good shot at any elite institution! You’ll have an opportunity to explain the discrepancy in grades in the Additional Information section of the Common App, so as long as you have a good reason, and show that you’ve bounced back after Sophomore Sem 1, you should be fine. Also, find out if your high school transcript shows only year-end grades or grades from both semesters. You might not even have to worry if only year-end grades show up. Good luck!
whoever posted this, if it’s real which I am skeptical of, knows they have a chance anywhere. Stop replying seriously by saying how impressive they are because they know how impressive they are. And, as I said before, I’m very skeptical to believe this. I mean New York Times editorial writer? TED talk? What’s your name, so I can try and and confirm these EC’s?
Guys this isn’t real…
“3) used my books to advocate for a genocide project”
Generally speaking, elite American colleges and universities are averse to admitting students who advocate genocide.
On the other hand, in their seemingly unending quest to promote tolerance and diversity within their student bodies, some elite schools might be looking to recruit pro-genocide applicants in order to ensure that this heretofore underrepresented demographic niche receives adequate recognition on campus.
At such progressive and forward-thinking institutions, I’d say that your odds of admission are excellent, since your stats place you at the academic apex of the pro-genocide high school community. Good luck!
