Chance me at Tulane!!!

My highschool stats are TERRIBLE
hs gpa:2.3
SATs:1600
ECs: 4 years cross country (captain senior year, and coachs award)
4years Winter track
4 years Spring track (captain senior year)
latin club
video production club

College stats (im at state school)
Major semester 1: biology
predicted GPA: 3.5ish

second semester I will be switching to politicial science, my gpa will more than likely be 3.7+ with that major

College ECs: young republicans
Conservative league.

Should I include my hs ECs on the app?

I will be applying for the fall 08 semester the cut off date is june somthing, i will send my application in beging of may as soon as my year is done.

What are my chances with a kick ass essay also?

I think you have good chances, actually and include your hs activities if you plan to pursue them at Tulane.

I dont plan to pursue track or cross country at Tulane, but I will continue to be participate in any conservative or republican clubs they offer.

They told me that my hs record would be less of a factor since i will have an entire year of college under my belt, and they also said the average transfer gpa is 3.3, which i will be above.

Then you're well on your way & you really ARE involved in the political scene I suposse. So if you want to truly include that stuff maybe explain how it has influenced your work ethic etc.,

i think Tulane is accepting a lot of people these days after Katrina and all. You definitely have a shot. Personally, I think you're in, but then again you can never tell with this stupid process.

Tulane transfer rate= over 80% you will get in

They don't care about anything tulane's so easy to get into lol. You'll be fine if you work hard. Just get a 3+ and you're in. Seriously. They're not tough.

haha yeah. just put you hav a 2.5 gpa in HS and you'll get in

^^^^

I looked and saw a new post on my thread, i was excited to read it, than i read it, disregarded it, and hoped for a new post on my thread.

Why are there so many Tulane bashers on this forum.

Tulane is a top 50 school debatably on the rise, it is a VERY good school, anyone who knows colleges and is not bias will tell you that.

Granted its easyier to get into Tulane as a transfer than as a hs applicant, but its by no means "easy".

Bec ause I am a student here. Haha. Anybody that goes here knows it is nowhere near as good as it is ranked lol. It is a VERY mixed school, academically. By that meaning most people you will find are not that smart, and that's NOT a bad thing. I would say I'm average lol. But there are a good amount of people here that think my spanish class is the hardest class ever (and...we have max 15 mins of homework a night.) There is no way that people have any sense of hard here haha...

Don't ge tme wrong, it is a good school. But, people make it out to be the ivy of the souith....when it's not as good as like vanderbilt or emory. BUt, it has a completely interesting feel. You can't get new orleans in tennessee, or atlanta, that is one amazing thing about it here. I LOVE new orleans, it's such a neat city. But tulane is a huge bubble of the north lol. Most people i know are from new jersey, long island, or like maryland.

^^^^

Whats your major if its you only get 15 minutes of homework a night? Thats a joke, I get more than that, and Im at state school right now.

Hows the greek life at Tulane btw?

HAhaha oh nooooo I do get LOADS of homework, just not in spanish. Like, I'm a freshman and I am in a junior level anthropology class. I get about 2 hours a day, but I've been studyign alllllllllll day for a midterm on monday. haa it's fun

Greek life is like water for fish, tulanians need it (but i don't drink so...haha...or at least i didn't until about a week ago ^_<)

I think that like seriously 90% of people are binge drinkers here lol.

I was NOT trying to bash Tulane. I think it's a great school; for instance it's Latin American studies program is world class and it has that cool Political Economy major. What I meant is that they accept a ton of transfers due to the fairly low retention rate which is understandable because man it's New Orleans.........drinking is like required by law there or something. Still I'm getting interested in transferring there and I think it is a great school.
