i just took the SATs again, and if it results anything like recent practice tests i should be looking at about a 2100 after major tutoring.

AP US history test: 4

SAT IIs:
-Literature 630
-US history 680

Taken Ap or honors history all four years and this year am in AP economics/gov and AP stats and am looking at at least a 4.0 weighted gpa

Im looking at UCsb, Davis, Merced, Cal Poly SLO, UCSD, UCSC
(might do early decision at Cal poly is chance for other schools look grim)
I would be declaring a major in economics in any
Chances PLEASE?

Oh and ECs:
JV football for 2 years Varsity lacrosse for 2 years. Helped start lacrosse team at our school.
Worked two summers at sailing camp for kids where i taught children how to sail.

no volunteer work, but i have played saxophone for four years also but no band experience

I can pretty much guarantee you won’t get into UCSD. Davis and UCSB are reaches. My friend last year had a 2020 SATs, 3.5 GPA and got rejected from all of those. Your ECs are pretty weak, according to the Point System for UCSD you basically won’t score any points out of their criteria.

UCSC and Cal Poly are likely matches (my friend ended up at UCSC). Just don’t apply Engineering at Cal Poly.

Also, don’t go to Merced. Go to a CCC before you do that. Not even kinda worth the $25000+ a year to go there.

UCSC and Merced: You’re in most definitely.
Cal PolySLO, Davis, and UCSB: A bit tougher, but you’ll get in one/two of the three.
UCSD: You definitely have a shot at UCSD. I don’t know what the guy above me is saying when he says he guarantees that you won’t get into UCSD. You have a great shot at it!

Hmmmmm your GPA is lacking for some of these schools, especially Davis, SB & SD.

Nonetheless, I still think you will probably get into at least one of these schools, assuming you have a well-written personal statement.

If you can get that SAT over 2100, it will increase your chances for these schools a bit, but I still wouldn’t say you are not guaranteed for UCSD.

Even if it is a point system, I don’t know, weird things happen.
I believe Davis uses a point system, as well as UCSD, and I was rejected by Davis, and in at UCSD.
Their point systems might be a little different, but yeah you get the point.

The first poster was correct, with an average GPA of 4.0 and average SAT about 2000, UCSD is highly unlikely.

Your SAT scores are very good for all the mid tier UCs, but your GPA is very low–they average 3.9/4.0. As they will all be taking fewer freshmen this year, how much your high SAT can compensate is tough to guess.

An ED application at Cal Poly may well be a good strategy.
