I have been considered for ELC. I am ranked 54/654 but that's only considering UW GPA, and I have one of the higher weighted GPAs in my class considering I was one of only 4 students taking 4 APs their junior year. (We only have 14 APs total in our school)

SAT:
2140 on second try
800 Math
630 Critical Reading
710 Writing

First try was 2060

570 Critical Reading
690 Writing

Subject Tests
700 World History
770 Math II
630 Physics (Didn't have enough time to study, I wont send this score in)
I need to taker either Physics or Chemistry in the fall

President and founder of an anti-genocide chapter of STAND, which is a national student run organization. It is the first one in our whole area, so it'll be very community based.
Already raised $700 for the Genocide Intervention Network in 3 days. I will be working on community events and will raise another $1000 or so in September-December. I'll write my personal statement on this.

How well do I round up for the top UCs and some Ivys? What more do I need?

Oh, and I want to major in Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering

you’ll be fine for the UCs and USC. Your overall SATs are too low for the rest of the schools you’re considering – you need 700+ on all areas or your chances are slim, and 800 math is really common at MIT so that will not make you stand out. If I were you, I would study over the summer to raise my SAT and SAT II scores; if you’re interested in engineering, you should have at least one SAT II in a science that’s 700+ as well.

Why is no one responding?

Seeing as you’re from San Jose, CA, and therefore a California resident, I think you’re definitely a shoe-in at the UC’s.

Yeah none of those schools you listed are Ivies. You have a solid GPA and a good SAT score, so in at the UCs except for Berkeley, which might be a low reach for you.
MIT and CalTech are super high reaches for you just because you dont particularly stand out. And college777, it is NOT (NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT) true that you have to have a +2300 to get into MIT/CalTech!!! Granted it helps but its definitely NOT a requirement.
In fact, the MIT admissions people said that their incoming freshman had a “healthy mix of A’s and B’s” on their high schools transcripts, and that what they’re looking for is how much you challenged yourself. So the rigor of your classes in high school is MUCH more important than your GPA.
Moreover to empirically prove my point…three of my friends got into CalTech last year, and all of them had SAT scores in the 2200s. Their GPAs were 3.9 somethings. And those stats are perfectly fine and reasonable.

Okay rant over. High reach for Stanford too for same reasons as above.
chance me back if you have time? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736548-chance-me-top-schools-ivies.html

Well my school has no honors courses, only 14 AP courses, so the rigor of my courses is pretty limited. Also, our school isn’t allowing anyone to take more than 3 AP classes next year due to “budget cuts” and I was planning to take 4. So in total I would have 8 APs (1 sophomore 4 junior 3 senior) and 3 transferable community college courses. And I’m almost certain that 8 APs is the highest anyone in my class has taken.

bump… I’ll chance back if you give me a link

In at all the UC’s, but I think you’ll be rejected by either UCB or UCLA. Not both, but just one. Caltech and MIT seem like they really want some intense work in the sciences, and you don’t seem like you have too many academic honors/mentions outside of school, so those are reaches. Stanford is a reach, as are all of the Ivies except for Cornell.

I think you need some more eye-popping EC’s.

Does anyone have any school recommendations for me, based on my stats?

I think post #17 is a much better question. You should re-post with a catchy but useful title, under the college search forum, and I’ll be you get more responses.

FWIW, you look good for UC’s, but Cal and UCLA can be unpredictable, no matter what your profile, especially in engineering.
