Hi! Okay, not to be bashful with the title but I really need this. I am knee-deep in college-related anxiety. Thanks so much!

Schools: Tufts (ED1), Boston University (ED2), NYU, GW, Northwestern,
BACKGROUND ||| White gay male from a private catholic diocesan school.

SCORES ||| SAT: 790 English / 760 Math

GRADES ||| my GPA is a 94.04/100; mostly A’s and like maybe 5 weighted Bs

CLASSES ||| AP US Gov/Macro, AP Lit, AP Latin, AP Stat, Newspaper, Theology (required). Generally mostly Honors and AP for core classes. Graduating with 8 APs in total and the past three exams (Lang, APUSH, World) I’ve gotten 5s on.

CLUBS ||| Debate Team (Captain, 4 yrs); Newspaper (Editor-in-Chief for 2 years, 3 yrs on staff); Latin (Leadership all four years and now president, 4 yrs); Multicultural Awareness (founder, 1 year). Bunch of other stuff like MUN, Senior Mentoring Leadership and NHS.

OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL ||| Intern on a local gubernatorial campaign for a year and a half (10 hours a week), interning with UNICEF in Atlanta, volunteering on Elizabeth Warren’s campaign. Went to prestigious Governors Honors Program (18% acceptance rate and really well respected), Emory Debate Camp and Yale Young Global Scholars during the past summers.

AWARDS ||| National award winner for this poem I wrote. In school – Historical Research Award (best APUSH thesis of my grade), Journalism Award, Newspaper Award

Your stats look great! You are a (self-reported) great human being! You will be fine! All of your choices are wonderful schools and they have a lot in common which shows you know what you want in a college. I think you have a very good chance of getting into at least one of them and since you are doing early decision … you may well get into just one (since you’ll have to pull your other apps once you’re accepted) :-)! Just in case make sure to pick a fabulous safety that you love (I suggest Temple). Do a good job in your “Why X” essays, get those apps in… and relax. All will be well.

I think you’ll get serious consideration at Tufts. It’s selective enough that there are no guarantees, but I think the odds are good. Just make sure you do a good job on your essays!

I hate to ask this…but are finances a consideration or can you be full pay at these schools? Some will meet full need as they calculate it to be (Tufts, and Northwestern). BUT BU, NYU, and GWU are extremely pricey and do not guarantee to meet full need.

Getting accepted without the ability to pay is like getting rejected.
