@Abarith, Rustin313, CalvinTBOD and hotchie138-
Thank you all for the feedback and positive comments.
The one thing you all suggested was getting higher on the ACT. Just to explain a little bit, that was my first time taking the test, and I am now studying hard in order to raise the score up > than a 32. So hopefully that works out. And yes I have to work hard to keep up with my music and all my other stuff. Not starting the essay quite yet because I have a while, but am thinking about possible ideas.
Thanks!

I think you definitely have a shot, probably a high match (I’m only saying high because colleges are unpredictable). Bump that ACT score up if possible, keep up the GPA and do well on your IB tests :)

Hehe violas Send them a CD/arts supplement if you’re serious about music, and maybe even contact the music department at Brown. And good luck with soccer!

Consider doing a little community service work if possible in the next few months?

Stand out with your essays and show them how much you really do love music and soccer, or anything else you’re seriously dedicated to.

thanks shikubo! even though I think it will be more of a reach then a high match, You had some great advice. And I am planning on sending them Music and Art, as well as contacting the department.
and community service… I know i have to work on that…
Thanks so much for the feedback!

Your ECs are extremely impressive, I think you’re all set aside from the ACT score which could be raised by a few points. Otherwise, I think you’re a pretty well-rounded individual and have a great shot at Brown. I agree with the other posters that you should partake in some community service event, only to solidify your chances a bit more :)

Thanks so much!

Pretty much what everyone else has been saying: your ACT is stellar (off topic) and while it may be average for Brown, that’s not what is going to make you the “star” of the applicant pool.

These days, everyone strives to be amazing in order to stand out, by doing varsity, volunteering, APs, Comm service, a bunch of random ECs…so what the problem is is that what is considered an extraordinary student may actually an average one, especially Top tier applicants…BUT!

I really think that your music career makes you stand out. Adcoms see right through BS applicants who only bulked on ECs just to chalk them down, heck some students actually get caught lying because their resumes seem too full. But because of your music, the fact that you’ve focused solely on it, you show Brown that you are very passionate about your hard work and that you truly care about music since you went through the effort to receive awards mostly in music related areas; not simply president of random clubs A and B.

In the generation where many students assume being a good applicant is being on random clubs and volunteer hours, there are also students that stick to a more simple approach of focusing on passions and goals. Congratulations on your awards, and I have high confidence that you’ll be an eye-opener in their applicant pool. Good luck!

PS-there’s no emergency to retake the ACT at this point–if you truly feel that you need to, then go for it.

wow, your ECs especially your music is amazing. Ur ACT is pretty average but you definitely have a shot! Just keep up the good GPA and I wish you luck!

City Student - THank you SO much that means a lot and made me feel great lol. But I completely agree with you. So many peoples resumes are so tedious to read and so hard to follow because they are naming every single little thing they have ever done in order to make it seem like they have tons of ECs.
Your feedback was really nice, thanks a lot.

petedawg - Thanks! I am trying! your feedback means a lot

I think you’ll get in!

You’re very well rounded…involvment in politics, sports, and academics is a great combination. Btw- thanks for your reply:) Good luck

mid reach, which for any ivy league is reaally good. good luck!!! :D

I think you have a good shot. The exceptional violin playing definitely gives you an edge that can help a lot in your admission

Your chances are looking pretty good but there are some areas to improve. Bumping up test scores is always possible and would help a little. Otherwise focus on one or two main things for your EC’s so you show interest in specific areas. Otherwise keep up the good work and you should be fine! Good Luck!

Very good combination of interests, definitely in range, probably a low-mid reach but definitely apply ED!! And retaking the ACT wouldnt be too bad, I would suggest it.

I think you have a good chance of making it at Brown, but ivies are always hard to chance because you never really know what they want 100%. You have good EC’s, GPA, classes and test scores though, so you should be okay. Good luck :)

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

After reviewing other people who got into Brown, and comparing your prospects with yours; I feel you have a great chance and will probably get in. Just remember that Brown is an Ivy League so they can be unpredictable sometimes, so just have faith and you will probably get in. Do well on all your standardized tests!!

Anyone else? some more input would be really helpful. Thanks

I think that your strength is definitely your dedication to music… I think it’s something that could really help you stand out from the other applicants. All of your stats seem good, though since you have time, you could try the ACT and raise it a few more points.

I think you have a good chance. Work hard over the summer on your applications, and try signing up for an interview (if you think it would help you. If you’re deathly afraid of strangers or something, don’t do it haha).

Good luck!

Thanks!!
and yeah I will probably sign up for one.

I’m also a junior at a top HS in NY, I wonder if I know you lol

Anyway, very nice application. You have a decent shot at Brown (and anywhere else for that matter) but if you want to bring your ACT score up, you’ll have even a better shot. Which is always good. Best of luck to you!

Chance me back!
