Can anyone who knows someone at Brown or is a student at Brown tell me if my application seems good? I would really appreciate it
Here are my academic and extracurricular activities
GPA: 93.42 (Unweighted at a suburban school ranked 40 in the nation)
fyi. My school does not rank at all (Therefore we don't list a top 10 or 5%) and there is no valedictorian
ACT: 33 Composite
SAT 2's: U.S. 780, Mat Level 2 800, Math Level 1 740

of AP's taken by senior year: US, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Euro, Language and Composition, Literature and Composition, BC Calc, Psych, Bio, Spanish

Scores on AP's so far: All 5's except on Language and Composition (I still have to take the exams for BC, Psych, Bio, Spanish, and Literature though)
Extracurriculars:
Varsity tennis player since 7th grade and our team is ranked #1 in the city.
I play the guitar, upright bass, mandolin, piano, drums, and I also DJ
However, my primary focus is being a Double Bass player in two selective youth orchestras which require an audition
(since 9th and 11th grade respectively)
One of these orchestras is mentored by a professional philharmonic orchestra and is sometimes guest conducted by Eastman and Juilliard School of Music graduates.
In fact I am student and take lessons at Eastman School of Music in double bass.
Medical Volunteer at a Women's Health Center and Volunteer at an Orthopedic Clinic (over the summer)
Volunteer instructor in Music Therapy (I teach music to mentally disabled people in order to rehabilitate them)
Music Volunteer in "Playing For Change", which is an organization that seeks to use music to unify the world. I help play with their songs and volunteer. All their proceeds go towards building music schools in Africa.
Spanish Club Advisor
Brown Belt in Karate (earned as a 10th grader)
National Honor Society Member
Awards: AP Scholar With Distinction, National Chemical Society Award, National Spanish Exam (Bronze), Honor Roll since 6th grade
Well... that's about everything I can think of.
Personal information
Age: 17
Location: Upstate New York
Race: Did not specify on application
Religion: Presbyterian
Application: Early Decision
Income Bracket: Top 1%
Recommendations: Good (it's a guess because I won't see them)
College Essay: I wrote about my experience using music to help the mentally ill and how I had a purposeful impact in the community. Everyone who read it said it was great
Strengths (in my opinion): 1. Good enough test scores and I've challenged myself in school, 2. Good extracurriculars, I have shown I am dedicated to music and tennis, 3, People say I am personable and determined (I skipped Algebra 2w/ Trig and finished it in two months), 4 (THIS IS PROBABLY MY greatest strength), I met with the orchestra conductor at Brown and he said he would write me a letter of recommendation to the admission office and tell them that he needs double bassists if I send a good audition tape.
Weaknesses: GPA, Statistics
From my school only 7 people have been accepted out of 100 applicants and the average accepted GPA was 96, the average test score was a 33 though
I'm really nervous that Brown will not even consider me because of my GPA. They don't seem to understand that because our GPA's aren't weighted, it makes it really difficult to get a high grade. I'm kind of disappointed in my grades though, because I was more focused on sports and music in my freshman and soft-more years. It wasn't until the end of my soft-more year that I really wanted to go to Brown. Unlike all the other top students at my school, my Junior GPA was actually my highest even though that's when I took the most AP's.
What do people think of my application? Do I have a good chance? Im really nervous obviously, but my councilor has faith in me apparently.
Thanks
